Hi ,
I'm looking to put rubber matting in my stables and have had samples from fieldguard and equimat, which both look good. Has anyone had any experience with either of these, or can you suggest others ? I'm hoping to get some that needs only a little bedding.
Thankyou for your help ! :)

I have Equimats in my three stables, the standard ones in two stables and the extra thick one for my old girl. They are brilliant, I only use a sprinkle of shavings, they have transformed my life! If you have a wobbly stable floor though they might not work, being EVA. I just swill any wet patches out with a bit of water, so quick and easy.

I use easimat www.easimat.com they are light weight easy to cut with a stanley knife and come in two thicknesses. They were also the cheapest EVA ones that I could find, got them from ebay and am currently saving up to get some for my other stable.

Thankyou very much for your replies, the easimat ones look really good too!
Dogstar, have you had any problems with the mats lifting, as some people have said that interlocking mats can lift up? Has anyone had experiences with fieldguard?
Thanks again :)

Hey I was thinking of getting these would you recommend them then?

Sorry to hijack!!

But I looked at all rubber mats I could find and liked these the best but no-one had used them so i was sceptical!!

As said they sell them on ebay!!

Hi, i was thinking of getting the easimats, a horse has them at work and they are so soft underfoot. atm we have one set of hard ordinary rubber mats which feel quite hard and are such a pain to carry.
Where can you find them cheapest. i typed easimat in on ebay and nothing came up.
also what is benefical about the thicker mats?

I bought mine from the Equifloor place at the top of the page!

They are nice and light, soft mats with jigsaw edges. Put them down and I thought "Great" Looked lovely.

Now the bad bit! If your floors aren't absolutely flat they will stretch and pull out of the jigsaws. We have had to rejig mine several times as I get huge bubbles coming up or the edges pulling apart every couple of weeks.

My floor isn't that uneven, well not at all to the naked eye, but that has been my experience. Loads of little chips have come off of the surface too, but they are soft mats and I have a big, shod horse spending a lot of time in there so I don't think that's unreasonable.

In hindsight I think the really heavy black mats would have worked better for me.

I just went to my local rubber matting company - they are sssooo much cheaper and they are the same!!
I managed to kit my whole stable out for £40!!
The ones i got had the drainage lines on one side and bobbles for grip on the other - cutting them was hard so i had help but it only took us 20 minutes!
I think they are ssooo much help - my gelding is really wet and he had several problems with slipping on his own wee!! :(
Not a problem now - and it saves me shavings/costs because i dont need a full bed now unless i want to!
