I have a few questions...

1. How much should I expect (approx guess!) to pay for a full stable to be rubber matted?

2. Can anybody reccomend a company? (reasonable price)

3. What's the best type of rubber matting to choose?

I basically want something at a reasonable price but good quality.

i used 'the black mat co' good quality nearly £500 for 13 mats did a large 21 x 13 stable with 2 spare but fetched them from kettering as not that far from there, but as much weight as trailer wanted, delivery could be expensive also claimed vat back as other animals use stables, eg sheep and lambs

My local horse & country store sells them at £40 per mat and in my horse's standard 12 x 12 stable 2 fit neatly wall to wall along the front of his stable and 2 more behind that does approx half the stable. If you assume another 4 that's about 8 in total which = £300. They deliver for free but you have to lay them yourself. I only rubber mat the front half of the stable, the back half is a deep litter shavings bed. Works perfectly.

HorseMats are great they are based in Suffolk and have reasonable delivery costs or you can pick up a couple at a time in your car, as they are rolled up if you ask.
I did lots of research and they came out very well. The really good thing is that the base is free draining in any direction and also the top was relatively smooth making it easy to sweep.
My stable is an irregular shape, but I managed to hack through with a stanley knife. Plus! you can get some special grippers to keep mats together if they walk.
I have a very large friesian on mine and he is happy to lie on them without any bed - only happened on hot days in summer - I do put a bed down too all winter! :)

Hi,
I've just bought some EVA green mats from Equimat. You need 6 for a 12x12 stable and cost me £300. They fit together like a big jigsaw so no danger of them slipping. I bought the first lot straight from Equimat in Northampton and fell in love with them! Basically my horse rubs his hocks when he gets up from lying down and was making a mess of his legs. I found no matter how deep I did his bed he still did it, and he still did it on the old style black rubber mats that the livery had.
Equimats are thicker and have some give in them and I'm sure the stable was warmer during the snow we've just had!
I managed to get a second set from Derby House Saddlery and luckily someone had just returned a set so I got an extra 10% off! To make matters even better, they gave me the extra thick ones by mistake and only charged me for the thinner ones ( I did confess but they said they only sell one thickness?!)
Definately easier to muck out now and need less bedding. I'd recommend them all day long!
