Rubber matting;

They sound really light '12.3 KG' would worry how durable they would be and if they would move or ruck up. Mine don't move as are HEAVY.

If it's for the floor, then I imagine it would need bedding over the top as it's doesn't look so hard wearing.

Worth a go, though.

New mats go for around £45 nowadays :(

I have light, EVA mats and they're great but they are double that thickness.

thanks.

i absolutely hate EVA mats. I think i will keep looking for thicker mats

robinsones ones are great but im not paying £44 a mat!

may just get two for now for the back of my stable (20 each which is good) off fleabay...

and save for another 2 :)

No....don't do it!!

I bought a couple and they were useless. The rubber started to break up and tear within a few weeks, and despite having a thick bed on top, would ruck up and move daily.

I contacted the company to tell them they weren't fit for use, and they admitted they had never fully trialled them on horses!!!

Sadly they wouldn't give me a refund, although said they would pass my comments on.....

I bought the really heavy thick ones off ebay from a company called rubber4u, the delivery on them was not that bad as I am on 45 miles away from where they dispatch from (Birmingham). They worked out £28 per mat delivered, I shared a delivery with another person think it was around 10 mats altogether . I think you can fetch them yourself too, because we contacted the seller as we were just going to drive over there in the pickup.

I'm not familiar with the ones that you've seen on ebay.

I've bought 6 rubber mats from Quattro nearly 10 years ago now - they're still as good as new and the best investment I've ever made when it comes to my horse. It definitely provides a much more comfortable floor surface to the horse and you save on bedding too. I can't remember which one of their stable matting I bought, but I do remember that they were very helpful at the time as they advised me on the appropriate type for my needs.

I think it's a good idea to buy only two for now (and use it at the front of the stable, the part which isn't covered with bedding) and buy better quality matting, rather than buying cheaper ones which may perish/become thin over time. You can always buy more later as soon as you've saved up enough. At least then you'll be happy with the matting that you've got 10 years down the line, and not regret buying better ones!

Years ago I bought some stable mats, they were 10mm or 12mm thick & to be honest they were too thin for the job. They started breaking up with the twisting & turning that the horse did in the stable so eventually I had to replace them. Don't buy anything thinner than 17-18mm thick. Your budget of £20-£25 per mat I feel is a little out of touch unless you want used, I paid that kind of price around 8 years ago & prices have gone up. You should get them for possibly £29-£30 per mat but then there would be the carriage on them which isn't cheap as the mats are hellish heavy.
