Rubbing Out Mane Help!

My mare has started to rub out her mane! She has had a blanket with a hood on it on, so I don't think it is from being to wet. I couldn't see extra flakey skin or anything. How do you stop mane rubbing? I have never had a horse rub its mane out before.

It could be the neck cover/hood that is rubbing the mane out.

Faracat I thought that at first too but the hood is being ripped by her itching and I switched blankets to one with out a hood and she lost more chunks of hair.

It is possible that the hair was weakened from the neck rub, hence still falling out without one.

If she has been itching I would suspect she has been too warm, but if she carries on itching you may want to check for lice.
