Ruby Walsh wins the Nakayama Grand Jump in Japan

Haha! Brilliant- thanks DB :D

Had heard about this on C4 yesterday - didn't realise they even had jump racing in Japan!!! :o

Bizarre that they start in stalls, and just as well these fences are soft, given the complete lack of help from the local jockeys!

If the RP form is correct, some of the horses in that race had never run over jumps before, and some had only run once or twice. They are all beautifully bred. Can't imagine it happening here like that!

Ruby at the end was hilarious! I think he was trying to speak clearly and slowly and trying not to laugh!

That second horse is pretty smart - Blackstairmountain would never have won if it hadn't been Ruby on. Great placing by Mullins and a nice earner - £465,162.48 to the winners!!

Well played, team Mullins! :D :D :D :D :D

Ruby said it - you don't go all that way unless you intend to win. The second was travelling at the end was close to catching up. Well done team Mullins - I hope you had a good bet as well.

It was a brilliant performance all round. A special mention should go to Willie's nephew, Emmet Mullins, who stayed out in Japan with Blackstairmountain since his prep race out there three week ago and who kept him ticking over.

I think equestrian sports are really taking off in a big way in the Far East, it's quite interesting!
