Well he's here! Has been in a cold garage until today so is now in the coldest room of the house (fridge like) until it warms up a little outside, then I can bond and put him out with the girls. He's very fluffy.

He's very skittish but OK once held if all is quiet. Hopefully he'll get used to our chaos house quickly.

He's lovely!

You lot need to stop buying and posting pictures of piggies. I'm being tempted to get one. I had 2 when I was a child and they're great!

He's settling in nicely, isn't quite so frantic to run away now and happy to be picked up once caught. Lots of repetition. Not so frantic to run away back into the cage after cuddles either. Good progress for 48 hours! Hopefully at the weekend it'll be warm enough for me to split the hutch and put him out and do the scent swapping the rescue recommend before full intros the following weekend. I'm already being driven mad by hay indoors!

The scent swapping worked well for us, do you have a neutral space you can use for a bit when putting them together at first?

Well I've given the hutch a thorough cleaning (because it needed it) and split it into two. He's now in the top and the girls below. He's been busy exploring and diving in a huge box of hay. A week of scent swapping and hearing each other before full introductions.

I've been swapping some bedding, but the hay is all icky and needs binning mostly so limited swap usage. Hopefully its good enough. I mowed the lawn last weekend so it's actually dry in the evenings now and I'd love to put them out, but I want to keep the run neutral until bonding. Only 3 more days to wait.

I just swapped tunnels and stuff which seemed to be sufficient.

Actual bonding there was nothing in the pen apart from heaps of hay and lots of vegetables. (this was partly because although all my stuff had 2 exits on first attempt Millie was doing stealth attack manouveres from the fleece tunnel which wasn't really helping. .

Oh that's good to know. I've swapped tunnels too. I just thought they'd be more interested in the new smells! I was going to add hay and veg piles, but put it on the lawn rather than the much colder patio for their feet.

Well, today was introduction day! In the run with plenty of grass, veggies and hay. They all mingled nicely for the most part. There was some head raised teeth chattering from one of the girls towards him if he approached too forcefully. She was happy by him of her own accord. Slightly worried, but after 3 hours of that as the biggest drama I've had to put them in the hutch as it got dark. They're just in one level for now so they cant claim a level as such, with plenty of hay and veg and tunnels again. Fingers crossed please!
