I am starting a rug washing service as part of my new business venture and was thinking that instead of having collection points I would offer to collect and deliver from yards (min of 5 rugs) - and would aslo be happy to do evening and weekend collections is requested. The cleaning/proofing/repairs etc would all be as you would expect just some extra customer service to fit in with horses and work etc:)

So if this service was near you would you be interested in using it rather than piling smelly rugs in your car?:D

As its morning bacon sarnies and coffee for answers!!:D:D:D

Yes, please! I have had that sort of service near me before the big move and I really miss it here! Bearing in mind that I have teens of rugs to clean at any given time, I would imagine a trip to my yard would be worthwhile?:)

If you're coming to Martlin's yard could you pop in to mine too? Couple of miles down the road :)

My local rug cleaning lady has developed a horse allergy & has had to stop!

Our rug cleaner offers this and it is great. As a rule we drop them over to her, purely because she's close to the hospital and I've been there a lot these past two years. But she will come out to collect and return if we needed her to.

It's a great idea, I would use it, just wanted to say though that I wish before they do the rug repairs they would phone me and tell me how much, sometimes I have a bill that is more than the cost of a new rug

Also, if you could take my two dogs at the same time as the rugs for washing - they make my car stink!! :D

*giggles* (am i cruel?)

i think it's a fab idea slinks, but like Martlin, it won't stop my car stinking... unless you also offer to dispose of empty costa cups from the footwell of my car....?
And the sandwich wrappers, RedBull cans, melted sweets, bits of cattle/sheep feed, copious quantities of string, dog hair and the treasures they have found in the fields and then abandoned... Actually, would you like to open equestrian car valet service?

Our rug washer does that! Its great.

A mobile car muck out service sounds like it would be a goldmine too! You could powerwash the inside with Jeyes fluid! Mine first! I might even leave the stinky dogs and my boots in it while it was done!

I would never again use a freelance rug cleaner after our experience this year. We sent circa 800 quids worth of rugs for cleaning that we used last year without problem. This year we couldn't get her to return calls, then her phone went unobtainable.

We had to get the police involved and she had vanished with other people's rugs aswell. We did eventually get them back but never again.

Only go to cleaners via shops in my view.At least that way they can't do a runner.

When I was in Warks, the lady I sent my rugs to clean would come to the yard and collect them and drop them off a couple weeks later when cleaned. We used to organise it so there was at least 5-10 rugs for her to pick up. And we got a 10% discount when there was more than 10 rugs.

What are you all saying??:confused::confused::confused:

You mean you don't all drive round in immaculate just out of the showroom cars like mine??;):D:D

*rummages through 3ft of empty cans, costa cups, sweet wrappers, crisp bags, dog leads, blankets, jackets...........*

:D:D:D

A valet company were working out of client's carpark the other week. I leapt at the chance and asked them to do mine (Discovery). The chap took one look and said "I'll have to take it back to the depot!!". Hm. Can't think what he meant...:eek::rolleyes:

I once took a work collegue on a work trip - when we got back, he got out and said that it was the first time he'd had to wipe his feet on the way out of a car! Cheeky bobber - good job he didn't say it when we were eighty miles away, he'd have been walking back!

I've voted Yes by the way. D would very much appreciate someone elses car stinking of rugs and not his :D. My car is always sweet smelling....:p:D

I have a Rug Wash business and I do both options of pick up and drop off at yards, homes, and via Shops etc. Works well both ways and my car does stink. Suzi Trooper does the job well and I guess Im a tad immune to the smell now. Doing a runner with peoples rugs - thats really bad! Hmmmn,-------
I at the mo have 4 Rambo Supremes, various Horseware rugs in my posession, all belong to 1 person. You have given me an idea - EBay here I come! Only joking haha!

Your business will take time to build and the trust comes later.

We do this for our rugs a group of us add them together adn the guy comes and collects them to wash, fix etc and brings them back to us. Also does it cheaper than in the shops and its the same person!

Just had Patches equestrian ( bucks ) do my rugs - everyone did theirs at the same time so all were picked up ( minimum of 10 i think ) and delivered.

I'm so pleased to know that I'm in good company!

ou rlocal rug washing place does this, it used to be a tack shop but now they just cleen and repair rugs. he collects and drops off if you have more than 5 rugs... well the last time we all got together & sent LOADS of rugs and the bill was over £600! so it was well worth him collecting them and giving us a group discount as it certainly got him some business he wouldnt have got normally! must be a lucrative business!:o

i recently hosed mine off at my yard, left to drip dry over night in hay barn, did same the next day until water ran fairly clear, and left to drip dry again over night, then popped in washing machine, put them on to rinse twice, and brought some reproof to rinse with, and also sprayed with some reproofer from oswald bailey, and voila, for about 7.99 clean and water proof! x
