Hi All,

My mare has yet again destroyed her turnout rug, so looking for another, the Rambo Wug has been the only one so far to not rub her shoulders so need sometihng very similar but would like to be able to change the lining so it can be light, med or heavyweight depending on the weather, also need it in 7'3" with plenty of depth.

Any ideas?

Thanks

i sympathise - i get through 1 turnout each winter if not more, and the same with the fly rug in the summer!! Any advice on preventing the ripping in the first place would be good for me!!! I just tend to buy fairly cheap and cheerful now as i find he manages to completely destroy the expensive ones just as well so not worth spending a lot on rugs

Our old horse literally would shred his rugs in half. Not funny when you are spending £100+ on TO rugs

We went down the road of buying a canvass turnout rug - really old fashoined I know - but we put it over the top of a lighterweight rug and it minimised the damage to the expensive rug.

They are cheap to buy and easy to repair.

You also could look at the denier - the bigger the number the more resistant the rug's material.

Captain has problems around the shoulder and the Weatherbeta freestyle all fit him beautifully, not sure why your mare has trouble with the shoulder but if it is because of big movement, as Cappy's is, then the Landa Freestyle could help.
As for the rug destroying, if you find a solution please let me know, the quickest he has destroyed a rug is half an hour, took the whole of the front out!

Oh there is no chewing or biting involved she just seems to rip them on tihngs and break fastenings, Thanks for suggestions anyway, just ordered a rambo duo so we'll see how it lasts!

I see you're ordered a Duo which hopefully should sort the problem. I wanted a Duo but Premier Equine were doing a deal on their Trio rug last winter which they're doing again this year - £130 instead of nearer £200 approx. He managed to destroy it within a couple of weeks of wearing it. However, I've since had it patched up and had a pair of leg straps put on. This year it's stayed in place perfectly and hasn't rubbed at all. He wears it 24/7. His problem was bucking and losing his rug over his head and consequently standing on it.

Seems to be solved now.
