Ok I know this sounds a bit weird and I'm probably being a bit thick about this.......
At night I'm putting a Thermatex/fleece on my as yet unclipped boy in his stable. He is 21 years young id/tb. He has furred up and will be clipped soonish. the night time temp has been approx 9 degrees. In the morning his rug has that dew on it which is typical of a thermatex when you use it to wick away hot/wet horse. Does this mean that he is too hot and the rug is cooling him down as he's sweaty underneath or is this the equivalent of condensation I.e cold air on warm body creates condensation like on your windows. 😗

I find I get this with my horses rug. When I feel inside he's just right. It's only with his weatherbeta that this happends. My friend finds this happends with hers to. Just let others on yard awear as I had someone.... A livery Fresh from riding school strip my boy down to a very light fleece in 4 degrees weather a cupple of week back because she thought my horse was to hot. It was pure luck that I thought I pop in and see my boy on my way out for a meal....he was cold and shivering as he's a clipped out thoughbred. Hope this helps.

Yes. you're right OP, he is too warm. The moisture from the heat expelled by your horse's body is wicked away, just as it is when he is sweating after work.
