Do I put my horse back out during the day in his lightweight. But i dont want to be called cruel or be centre of the gossip by the busybodies at the yard!

As its now getting warm shall I make him go out in the day with his lightweight on now? Im just asking, as most of the horses on our yard are still in heavy weights ,god knows why!

He is a very fine tbxid (more tb) and ive only clipped hims neck and girth area so not asif hes got not hair.

Another thing is that they are in a feild slap bang at the top of a hill which can have a very cold wind!

Could do with shivering a few more pounds off before the spring grass gets bad! Haha

Youd have no rug on whatsoever? I dont think ill do that just yet but i think im going to put him out in his lightweight.

Thanks thought :)

Mine are fully clipped and out in lightweights if its a nice day - this morning it was freezing and foggy so i put mediums on, now i'm looking out of my office window at the sun and feeling awful!
Luckily it's only about 12 degrees with a cool breeze so they should be ok, if i had chance to get back to the yard at lunch they'd be in lightweights though!

So in your case, with hardly any clip, i'd have him naked on a nice day and in a lightweight if it's cold and/or raining.

Mine is clipped & out with no rug on - I'm feeling really bad @ the moment cause I thought is was going to be warmer today said 12 degrees - feeling like a bad mummy !!! Think they will have rugs on tomorrow x

My boy is not very clipped either and he's out in a lightweight if the weather looks dodgy or if it's nice and sunny he goes out naked!! He loves being without a rug and it helps shift some of the ridiculous amount of hair he is now losing!

Mine are in lightweights atm, bit chilly first thing but comfortable for the afternoons. I'm sure he will be fine in a lightweight. Better slightly too cold than too hot I think, at least they can have a run round if they are feeling cold, if they are too hot they are stuck with it! Ignore the stickybeaks at the yard, bit sad if that's all they've got to talk about :D

Oh dear. You do what your horse needs. If he is hot take rug off, if fine leave it. My boy had a med on last night and naked out today.

YO turned out this morning in a rug, but went up lunchtime and whipped the rugs off my girl and most of the other horses whose owners had replied to my text in time. It's glorious sunshine here, hate for them to miss the feel of sun on their backs. Some are clipped, some not. Definitely warm enough here :D

My fully clipped TB (clipped in November so growing back a bit now) is out naked and has been all week!!
She had a fleece on in her stable last night but that was the first night this week. It isn't cold at all here, The lowest the day has gone to this week is about 10deg and to me that is plenty warm enough for them to go naked!

My mare is loving it too! :D

My blanket clipped TBx is naked today. I did feel a bit mean putting her out in the fog this morning but sun came out by about 10 and I'm sure she's had a lovely day turning herself into a swamp monster. She'll have her rug on tonight in the stable though.

I find whatever I do is wrong...

Naked... and its cold and windy!
Rugged... its sunny and hot!

Cant win.... Roll on summer where they will be naked 24/7!

Mine are out in light weights and naked if its sunny enough. Both come in at night and get a med stable rug on over the top of their light weight turnouts which saves a bit of time in the morning! He'll be fine in a light would have thought. You know your own horse. Do what you want to do not what you think others on your yard think you should be doing!

I find people and rugs very funny... :)
When the weather was really nice the other week (t-shirt weather!) the ponies were all in heavyweights, and the native next to me was in blanket/fleece, under rug and heavyweight while mine was out naked!! today i had the inkling that it wasn't going to be too warm and put him in his medium, hood down.. and the others were all naked and chilly!!!!! i win!! :)

My tb is in a mw combo all day and night and just right temp its been cold wind here all week even when sunny. Today its been a miserable day. He has only been kicked out 24/7 this week so bit of shock to him!
How do u turn out with no rug then put one on-must have dry ground as my lad would be a mud monster and noway could i rug overnight and not day yet!!x

If your horse is a good doer, he'llprobably be fine without a rug. If you have prolonged heavy rain pop a no fill on him.

Its hard when fellow liveries over rug, but quite honestly, its better to treat your horse as an individual.

Thankyou for your replies. Tonight hes going to sleep in his medium weight and tomorrow, if the weather forcast is nice.. then hes out in his lightweight.

Really chuffed with your replies didnt expect so many!!

Watched a woman yesterday though.. just bought a hairy welsh cob and hes lived out naked all winter... shes gone and bought him a heavy weight rug and stuck him in it. wtfffffffff
