Can anyone help me? I'm trying to find a rug that doesn't put any pressure on my TB's high wither - he has a wither like a sharks finn it's really high and narrow. I'm looking for a medium weight turnout rug and stable rug with NO NECK (trying to get mane to grow back after full neck winter rugs have rubbed half his mane off - happens every year!). The rug needs to allow for plenty of room around the withers i.e, when he puts his head down to graze I don't want rug to pull tight over his wither. Any ideas?

The best and only rugs which suit my shark fin wither TB's (big big boys) are the John Whitaker Lactic stable rugs. I think they are heavyweight but there may well be a lighter version. For turnout I use either Mark Todd Autumner or Weatherbeeta.

Forgot to say I use Bossy Bibs to prevent mane rub when I have to use a combo rug.

weatherbeeta fits my tb really well as they are narrow on the front but have plenty of wither room. agree bossys bibs are a the best

Mark Todd fitted my very high withered Tb, even the one with the neck didn't rub. There was an extra panel stitched into the wither which meant it didn't press onto the neck. Fab rug, I would definitely buy it again.

my horse has a high wither similar the OP's horse. I love my JW lactic stable (the HW), and he has a few weatherbeetas. I also find masta rugs fit nicely. The only ones I am dubious about is the requisite ones.

I got a few weatherbeater rugs, premier equine turnouts fit as well. I find half neck rugs good, particularly Rhino wugs. Have also got a couple of normal neck horseware rugs that are a hood fit.

my boy is 32 played polo and raced, has seroisly abused withers , now retired, i stiggle to keep him warm comfortabley he hates all rugs, i have put tucks in to exhisting rugs, etc. he is biting now. cannot risk no rug , in cold weather , desperate foe help.
