Does anyone else have this problem, horse lifts back legs to kick at flies and despite still tightening circingles keeps getting his leg stuck in them, find him and take the foot out but last night it seems it got stuck till he broke it. Tried different rugs and knotting them to make tighter but need a solution +also horse is grey and filthy

I remove the leg straps from mine and use a fillet string, after finding a pony caught up in a rug. Luckily she was very calm but had obviously been standing there all night. Could you do that to the rug?

If the surcingles are tight round the horses belly, it can't get a foot in. Sounds like you need to tighten them up a bit more

Don't use rugs. If the horse has company, so they can flick flies off each other, and a bit of shade they are not necessary.

I don't rug either, just lots of fly spray morning and night and keep her reasonably well groomed so she doesn't itch herself to death

Get one with a belly flap rather than x surcingles it will give better coverage so should help stop the need to kick and lessen the risk of getting caught up if he still does.
