Hello, I'm looking at rugging options.

Those who use liner system, how do you manage it? One outer rug & several liners or 2 outer rugs & liners.

I have a 2 Yr old cob x who has been un rugged so far. Have a couple light weight that will fit for now if he needs. Looking for what he will need in future fully grown. I was thinking 2 100g outer rugs, with detachable necks & liners might do him.

My other 2 horses have a heap of rugs ( one a pony one 16.3) so can't steal their rugs.

Thanks

I have the horseware rhino rugs, with their liners. Og/ 250g turnout, and 250g/450g stable rug. Then I can adjust liners according to temperatures. I have multiple liners- 100g x2 as they are the ones most used, then the airmax cooler, 200g, 300g. I can have one of each outer in use whilst the other is cleaned. Then adjusted according to what pony needs.

I have one outer rug and then whatever liners I need for that horse.

I bought a 50g and 100g but even hunter clipped last winter, he rarely used the 100g and was mainly just in the 0g outer or sometimes the 50g.

I have a spare outer rug I bought second hand, just in case the main outer rug ever gets ripped etc.

I have 2 outer Premier Equine Busters, one 0g and one 50g.

And then a 100g liner, 200g liner, and 350g liner.

I just swap the outer ones whenever they get really wet so they go on rug dryer.

A damp rug stays on the horse overnight to dry naturally.

Works super well.

I like the amigo liners. I’ve moved to the Lemieux rugs which are great, they have a liner system too but I haven’t used them.

I tend to buy og 50g and 100g then I have 50g and 100g liners mainly shires, Derby house and swish and they all fit in my shires and weatherbeeta rugs, I use the snuggy petticoats as well if it's to warm for a liner.

I love the liner systems 🙂. I use Rambo turnouts and Horseware liners.

From formerly having all weights of outer rug, I now have just 0g and 100g outers, plus a range of liners in different weights from 50g (the
airmax liner) right up to 400g for the PSSM mare.

It doesn’t matter at all to the horse if the outer rug is filthy and muddy as long as the liner is washed and changed regularly - maybe weekly.

I have both.

Liners i have a
50g
100g
200g

Turnouts i have
Rain sheet and detatchable neck
100g plus neck
200g plus neck
250g plus neck
And a 40g neck

I basically have him innthe 50g liner and rain sheet with either the matching neck or the 40g neck at the moment and then he will move up to his 100g t/o and then depending on weather he will just use the 50g ot 100g liner and the 200g t/o with the different neck peices in different combinations.

Th 250g is used rarely

The 200g t/o was used for about a month last year with his 50g under on and off.
