Throw them at me! Going to need to size up slightly from my current rugs - he's between a 6'3 and a 6'6 i think and my 6'3 Amigos have some bum hanging out which i don't like but (but seem to fit ok round the front) then also don't want it too huge and massive around the shoulders! He's a 15.2 Cob x TB type.

me personally I like Gallop and Fal pro the original and kingshead

Horseware useless on my horses. way to tight on chest
don't like weatherbeeta or buccas.
hate Mark todds
dont like premier equine either

When my horse came home recently I put him in 6’3 Amigo at first and like you say it fitted nicely round the front but he showed a bit of bum when grazing.
I upped it to a 6’6, same rug (already had it!) and it’s perfect, still seems nice round the chest but now covers his back end properly.

Ooh I might try a 6'6 version! I love these rugs and have no issues with them at all but i hate to see bum hanging out!

I bought a Gallop rug after recommendations on here but a part of the neck strap fell off quite quickly. I was a bit disappointed.

I use shires or weatherbeeta mainly on the Arab's both are quite substantial in build, the Amigo rugs just don't fit them and the gallop ones I had only lasted about a year then leaked.

I use a variety of liners swish, shires and Derby house fit in all of my rugs fine.

I have Amigo on my mare a 6.3 and as above it could do with being a bit longer although it does have a tail flap to help cover her bum. I also have a Swish middleweight which is a lovely rug and fits her beautifully and is also lovely and warm and well made.

I have been looking at Swish a lot! Do they come up bigger than the Amigo? Would i still need to go for a 6'6?

I really like the Lemieux range. It’s the only time I’ve bought an entire suite of rugs in one go they fit so so so nicely.

I am still tempted by good old Bucas as they’re so tough BUT I don’t like the Velcro on necks.

My two can both wear normal sizes in Swish. They are also really nice rugs. I got one by accident almost years ago when i appeared home with a new horse and no turnout that fitted. I'd never even heard of Swish but she had one going spare so i bought it. Its done a few horses now and has been a really handy rug, I've since bought a couple more.

I've always been a Horseware person, but last year I bought a Le Mieux Arika t/o rug and it's been great. Doesn't move around, rub and has been totally waterproof.

ETA: they are true to size.

Interesting, the front shoulder pads look interesting. Wonder why has shoulder pads, but not wither padding? Assume no wither padding as not mentioned.

Which style do you like - seem to be a few different cuts. I am looking for maximum shoulder freedom - seem to be three styles. No shoulder gusset, standard shoulder gusset that comes fairly high up and longer angled shoulder gusset (almost Rambo Optimo style but angled more forwards).

Also anyone know if Lemiuex rugs fit rambo liners? Or are clips in wrong place?

Thanks

I only use Rhino or Rambo rugs now. They stay in place so well and I love not having to mess around with leg straps.

Does anyone know the highest spec of Weatherbeeta/PE and Shires rugs? I know PE do like the Buster and Cellular etc and Weatherbetta have the Essential and the Comfitech for example. Just not sure which is the better end!

Im still undecided on rugs! I have just purched the Weatherbeeta Cosi Detach a neck 100g which is a lovely rug and undecided if to stick with weatherbeeta and get a load of liners or get a lightweight 0g and 50g and a 200g elsewhere! I do find liners handy. Rugs are so expensive now

I love the quality of weatherbeeta rugs (but sadly just don't fit my big shouldered connie right). The majority of my rugs are horseware and I have some liners too and can't fault them at all. Last really well and have never had one leak. I do have a gallop 100g too which I bought as a quick spare - for the price its lasted much longer than I expected to be fair but definitely not quite as good as horseware and the like.

I do love horseware and love the disc closure fastenings - its so much easier! I'm keen to stick with them so may order a 6'6 and try it!

So tried the 6'6 and it swamped him way over his bum and the neck cover was up past his ears! Yet the 6'3 leaves his bum out so think I may have to try other makes after all! :(
