Today I discovered that one of my lightweight turnout rugs has 3 holes eaten through it by mice (I know I should have put it away properly!). They are towards the bottom and I think I could patch them using some pieces cut from another rug that has been ripped and I kept it 'just in case'. What would be really useful would be something like black silage tape that is made of waterproof fabric that you could just cut to size & strick over the hole. Does such a thing exist? If not could I glue the patch on (is there some suitable glue I could use). Or do I have to get a needle & thread out?
PS It's my birthday so don't accuse me of being a lazy cow for not wanting to sew them (or a silly cow for letting it happen in the first place)!

My LW turnout has a big tear along the spine where another horse grabbed it and my MW turnout has a hole on the back where I caught it on a nail on the stable door. I sewed them both up by hand; didn't even bother patching them, just a simple sew to stop them ripping any further and TBH, you barely notice the hole(s) they hardly leak or get damp underneath even in heavy rain.

I doubt any glue would be strong enough to hold long term so I'd go for the needle and thread, either patch it with another old rug or just do as I did and stitch it up.

IF you go to a decent camping store they have special tape that you put over patches you have sewn on to make it waterproof-works really well

If anyone knows of any rug repairers in kent/sussex please let me know! I don't want to spend a fortune or have them cleaned just some simple repairs...
