After having an hour to myself I decided to sort out Bob's rugs. The majority of them need a repair (or 2) - I've no idea what he does to them!!!

I've never repaired a rug before and when I try and find info on the t'interweb I just get details of companies that repair rugs. Need to do it myself as funds for rug repairs are non-existant at the mo. I am sacrificing the worst rug (which he only had on for a bl**dy week!

) to repair the rest. I have had a rug fettish in the past few years so I have a few to do.

Has anyone got a document on how to repair or know of a website that tells you how to do it???

Thank you please on behalf of Bob!

Horseware do some glue typey stuff that glues and waterproofs small rips in their rugs. If quite good - from robinsons / rideaway, but only for small rips I think

I'll get some glue and see how I go on - some of these repairs are going to be worthy of the Krypton Factor!!!

It's a standing joke in our house that if it can't be Wonder-Webbed it doesn't get done -so this is ambitious for me!!!

It really depends on what you are trying to fix. There are a few people who sell "rug fixing kits" on ebay. I've used Iron on patches and other fabrics dependent on the type of rug that I am trying to repair. I have found this company excellent for specialist fabrics www.pointnorth.co.uk they do most types of glues and seam repair kits

If sewing thick stuff a bent sail type needle is sometimes better on the fingers!! I usually use a canvas type of glue and stick it together then stick a patch over, I'm sure the strongest parts are now the glued bits!

Nowadays I get them fixed when they are washed and I'm really lucky that our rug washers do cheap repairs and stitch with an industrial machine.

I have just bought some off eBay for £4.00 you just iron it on. It looks OK, i just haven't found the time to get round to doing them, if you put in rug fix on eBay it should bring it up, they are in the eBay shop section. Hope that helps.
