I recently sent my Rhino stable rug to be washed with a professional cleaning company.

It has come back totally ruined - 5 very large tears and it is now pretty much un-useable.

I had only had the rug for about 2 months and it was quite expensive. Does anyone know where I would stand? Can I expect the company to replace my rug like for like?

Have you contacted the company? they should be given the chance to rectify/replace the rug b4 trading standards maybe? if you have contacted the co what was their response?

If the co did the damage then they are def liable to make good.

They're not open again until Monday but I will be calling them then to explain the situation.

I just wonder if they will try it on and say the rug was not damaged by them? I guess it's my word against theirs?

I can't understand why they sent it back to you damaged. They must have noticed before they posted it. Are you sure it was them and not the Post Office or courier firm?

Its their problem. They are offering a service and you have a right to expect that they carry this out professionally with a duty of care to you, the customer. However, before you go in all guns blazing, check to see if there were any disclaimers on the receipt you had, or the advert for the service etc. If they try to say something like "whilst we take the greatest care blah blah blah...but we have to stress that any damage is not our responsibility blah blah" then that should NOT be worth the paper its written on. I would expect them to do the decent thing and refund the cost of your rug. However, if they are NOT decent, sadly you might have a battle on your hands!
