I have a hunch about Robin and thinking/wondering if he is worse without a neck on his rug. If it has been wet he has had a 100grm combo on. If dry he is a 200grm no neck. On chillier days he isn’t warm enough in the 100grm. So today with the weather getting cooler I put on his 200grm combo. He was very slightly sweaty! Although seemed more content. Tonight is due to be -1 so have left it on but concerned he will be too hot. But want to experiment to see how he feels being slightly too warm.

Soooo long story but can you get 150grm turnout combo rugs? He is not ridden so not clipped. Or a 50grm under rug under the 100grm combo. OR his 200grm stable which has been washed and worn so much it isn’t as warm now, under a no fill combo turnout (but would this add warmth to neck?)

Yes, you can get 150g combos.
Out of interest why do put a heavier rug on when it's dry? Presuming similar temps wet and dry...
Eg my girl went out in a 50g no neck today as was dry, tmw is similar temps but wet, so will just add a neck cover.

I know it sounds mad. Atm we are having warmer wetter days and then colder drier days. I have been putting on no neck when I can as he is not clipped and trying to preserve his mane. He seems to be about as warm with a thicker (200) rug with no neck as with a thinner rug (100) with a padded neck (ie 100 in the neck portion too). If I put a thinner (100) with no neck he is too cold. But the thicker (200) with neck for wet days and he is too hot. But if he has no neck on and it rains he gets snowflake like. Hope that makes sense.

I have an Amigo Hero that’s 150g with detachable neck.
I noticed the other day that Ruggles do a 50g stable rug which I thought would make a handy liner.
