Can anyone find me this rug, or make any recommendations!

I need either a cooler rug that can be used as a stable rug, or a stable rug that cools as well.

I’d like something I can put my sweaty Betty horse in after he’s been worked, and ideally leave him tucked up in it over night as his stable rug.

I’ve seen bucas Celtic stable rug; out of my price range right now. Getting horse clipped isn’t an option right at this moment in time

That rug can be put on a wet horse but does not mean they can be put on and kept on or at least i doubt CDJ grooms actually do that + they are nearly always clipped and will dry a lot lot lot faster. You might be best going mega oldschool and thatching them for a bit then leaving unrugged when almost dry. If they are unclipped why do they need rugged overnight?

I have a ruggles wicking full neck rug.
Thermatex type fabric but a much better fit on mine, I always find thermatex slip back and cut in horribly so can never be left on unattended.

I use it after hunting if putting to bed wet, gets them warm and dry very quickly, or as an under rug in very cold weather as it’s quite a warm one.
Its very reasonably priced compared to other similar things.

I have a mark todd coolex. Is a thicker cooler, I use it in autumn and spring as stable rug but does a good job of drying sweaty horse after a quick slosh off. I picked it up for about £45

How thick does it need to be?
I’d avoid thermatex or fleece types as they generally stretch and attract bedding.

It’s always worth keeping an eye on eBay or market place for premium brands secondhand, they are usually premium for a reason ....

So you have the Bucas Celtic, Thermatex and Mark Todd both did a courdura covered thermatex for the stable. If you would rather a lighter weight then the Rambo Airmax might work. I also like my Back on Track mesh rug as a multi purpose stable sheet/cooler, it seems to keep them warmer than a regular sheet.

I love my Premier Equine Thermatex type rug but there's no way I'd leave it on in the stable to get covered in shavings and poo. It's strictly for travelling and looking pretty at parties. I look after that rug better than I look after the horses and it's lasted through three of them! I only buy horses that fit 6'9" rugs so i can still use it :p. If they need that sort of rug overnight (quite rare) I have an old Amigo jersey cooler - it's sort of fleeecy on the inside but smooth on the outside, like a soft shell jacket. It was fairly cheap years ago and it's still going strong. You can see the moisture working its way out and sitting on the outside of the rug in beads while the inside is completely dry. It was my looking pretty at parties rug until it went with Archie to schooling livery while I went on holiday and not only did they leave it on him in the stable, they used it over his back while they clipped him and it got covered in white hair that still hasn't come out 15 years on. I was very sad.
