Rug slipping - any fixes?

Hi
I have one rug which always ends up hanging off one side of my horse, leaving her bum open to frostbite (and mud, so much mud!).
I know this happens on a lame horse but as the rest of her rugs don't move- it's not her.
Any way of fixing this so I can use the rug without it slipping?
Leg straps don't help...
(I'm trying to make do/mend/recycle for ethical reasons, and to cure myself of rugaholism).

I think horse welfare is a valid reason for ditching a rug and buying a new, better fitting one

Same lining as the others, always slithers off to hang off one side. Spend my life yanking it straight or not using it. Maybe it needs to be 'recycled' into a hay tarp...

Could put weights (coins, flat stones, something suitable and not pointy?) on the side that's slipping up to try weigh it down? If you're uncomfortable buying a new one you could always donate it to a rescue or see if anyone on FB is looking to swap? If it's a brand name rug, someone would likely be happy to take it off you, possibly for cash. If it's slipping, it sounds like the rug doesn't fit.

I have round Arabs I find certain rugs don't work amigo don't they just slip and look odd on them, shires and weatherbeeta rugs seem to fit best so I flogged all the slippy crap ones and spent the money on wine! Whoops sorry I meant to say that I bought more appropriate ones that fit.

Get a lightweight rug that doesn't slip, and relegate the slipping one to a top rug when it's colder

It can be a challenge to keep rugs straight on my mare with the wonky pelvis. She has one 100g Rambo which for some reason stays fairly level on her, so I use that with a variety of liners. Her other Rambos slip ?‍, her Summer series rug being the worst offender, which is annoying as it's so useful.

Have you tried adding a tail loop to the bum flap, if there is one?
