I wonder if anyone can tell me what size washing machine I would need to wash turnout rugs and night rugs. It is only for my horse and it would only be one rug at a time.

Also where is a good place to buy second hand machines. Thanks in advance.

You would probably need at least a 16lbs / 30lbs machine for turn out rugs - most of these can be bought on Ebay or similar.. Normally you would need to check if you have 3 fase electric as many of those machines run off it...

bought mine from LPD nice big 18kilo machine refurbished £2 500 but i clean and proof for a living, so you could getaway with a 12/14 kilo machine, I started out with the large maytag top loader 10k americam macine but found it wasnt big enough, the rug went in but no room for aggitation, and the straps used to get tangled around the central aggitator.:(

We use a concrete mixer, only £150 for a good electric one. You have to heat up the water in the house in a bucket. It takes a bit of effort pouring in the cold water to rinse but it brings them up like new. You may want to take an angle grinder to the back of the paddles so straps do not get tangled. Not only that but it does a good jod if you need to mix concrete as well.

What a brilliant idea!!!!!

I have an 8kgs siemens and I can get 6ft 6 quilt rugs with a neck in that, I might struggle with the big turnout rugs though.

I have an LG that takes 11kg - The only thing I can't put in are really heavy weight rugs. I put the Duo in it (albeit separate outer and under rugs) and never had a problem :)
