Rug waterproofing products

I have used several waterproofing products - spray and paint on - including stuff for tents. And NONE of them has worked.
Does anyone know/can recommend any that actually do what it says on the tin?

Nikwax is the best for rugs. However, there becomes a point where a rug is basically past it like our coats and wont waterproof again. You also need to use it in conjunction with Nikwax Rugwash, anyhing that you use the is remotely like domestic wash powder will react against the re-proofer and it wont work.
