Rugaholics - does the rug I want exist?

If you happen to come across a no fill or lightweight one of these please let me know! Been searching for one for ages as the only one I've been able to find (the equitheme) only fits one of mine and not the other.

What build/type of horse is the one that fits the ET rug?

Mine are both section D, fits one but not the other. They are similar in build, one is slightly broader than the other and she is the one that opens the velcro at the front. There seems to be plenty of room across the front and she has the exact same problem with the Swish rug I bought instead so I think that her movement is the problem rather than the rug fit. All rugs with a velcro fastening do it on her, the Shires rug doesn't have velcro and is a perfect fit, I wish they did the same rug with no fill or fill under 100 as I would snap one up for her. I've temporarily solved the issue with the swish rug by sewing a patch over the velcro and I think that if I did the same with the Equitheme it would also fit her fine. The problem she has is once the velcro opens it turns inwards and the rough side rubs her. Other than that it is a pretty good fit. Hope that helps!

I wondered why the velcro was such as issue as mine always pops the velcro. She wears a bossy bib, that might work for your rugs too.

I tried one with her and it didn't fit at all, it also didn't line up with the rug fastenings and so swung around. It was just the wrong shape so I don't think a different size would have helped either. It is only lightweight turnouts she has an issue with, her other rugs she doesn't seem to do it with. Come on shires make that Typhoon in a lightweight version then I'll be sorted! Does the bib stop the velcro opening for yours or just stop it rubbing when it does?

I am looking for a HW wug/half neck turnout with a high denier (1000d or higher ideally), with leg straps, silky feel lining (eg nylon) and in size 5ft9. Oh and not a Masta.

Am I asking too much? I'm beginning to consider getting an Amigo 1200d Wug and having the extra loops for the leg straps sewn on as I can't find anything.
The only half neck I know is the Rambo wug buti ts fillet string not leg strap

They are damn good rugs, but it's the one that seems to blow off the easiest in winds.

I have gone for the weatherbeeta Taka. Fingers crossed that it was the right one to choose. It seemed like a high spec rug for a very good price.

The bib stops all rubs, especially the point of shoulder rubs. The worst rug for this was a Weatherbeeta half neck, incidentally, with small shoulder gussets. These gussets were in completely the wrong place for my horse's shoulder and it seemed they'd modeled a horse rug without ever looking at an actual horse. If they still make them, I'm not recommending! TBH with the bib I fasten the rug without using the velcro at all as the tab at the front of the bib, that holds it in place, rucks up the rug if the velcro is fastened.

Depends so much on the model. I had a wb landa which I ended up giving away as it was too tight on my TBs shoulders and rubbed. I have 2 x Taka half necks (a mw and a hw) and they are perfect on him. They are about 6 years old and still going strong. It looks like Weatherbeeta have changed their range since then so not sure anymore which ones fit the same.

The worst rug for fit I tried for my horse was the premier equines, somehow they managed to be too big and too small at the same time.

I bought a Buster 70 PE rug that was so long that it was past my 16.2 horse's knees! The neck also looked like a turtleneck on her. I'm so sorry I didn't take a photo of the ridiculous sight, she looked like she'd been in her mothers dressing up box.

Mine was a bit like that but managed at the same time to be so tight round the shoulders he could hardly move his front legs.

Same. I do have a PE fly rug and that's a good fit though it does get tighter overnight and she minces over to me to remove it in the morning.

I know you are sorted now but I have just got 2 new Rambo wugs and in addition to the fillet string they also have a tail strap ie attached to the tail flap that you put the tail through. Presumably others had problems with them flying so that was why they put this on? Anyway I think they will stay put with this new strap or at least mine have so far.

Yes, the strap on the tail flap is good, but with my arabs that sometimes hold their tails up - in fact the gelding often curls his right over his back - it doesn't do much good.
