Hey, Ive just come across the rugby pelhams and wondered if they would be a better alternative to a double for a horse that only likes mullen mouth bits? Or is there a double combination that has the bradoon as a mullen mouth? She's currently in a normal pelham atm. I do have a happy mouth bradoon and weymouth but the bradoon is lozanged and she hates it.

Thanks in advance!

I show my horse in a rugby Pelham as he has small mouth and big tongue. I’d say just see if your horse likes it.

I find them horrible heavy bits and I don't think they look as neat as a double, you can buy Tom thumb doubles they are much smaller than most if not I personally would stick with a normal Pelham for showing I think they look far better.

I would just use the normal pelham for showing, the Rugby is not going to make much, if any difference, to the way the horse goes and they can look rather clumsy, I have used them but prefer the neater look of a simple pelham with one less strap around the face unless the horse has a very plain head when it may help cover it a bit, a quality head looks best with less on it.

i use a show pelham - i think it looks a bit neater. my boy goes well in it. not everyones cup of tea but suits us
