Anybody have there horse out 24/7 clipped over this winter?
If so do the rugs rub being on all the time?
Especially if its not practical to take rugs off at all except once maybe twice a week?

:)

Yes I do and no the rug doesn't rub as it fits nicely. Usually, it would be off more often for riding but atm she's snowed into her field so it's just a quick check every few days under the rug to make sure there's nothing lurking! In fact thanks to the sub zero temps she's pretty much grown her clip back. They really are practical animals!

Thanks for the reply i am considering turning my section a out for a few months (only just bought him) but he needs to learn to be a horse if that make sense :/ unfortunately he was clipped when i got him but i may invest in a well fitting rug and go for it!!! im hoping he will come in chilled and willing to have a bit of fuss and do some work atm he a bit of a spoilt pony brat lol

Thanks for the reply :)

Toffee has a neck and belly and shes had a rug on since September really (obv I take it off to check her :D )

Never even worried about it rubbing more because she is clipped. But then her rug has never ever rubbed.

Hi. My two both have blanket clips and are turned out 24/7 with rugs on. They were clipped because we are meant to be going hunting!! They haven't been rubbed by their rugs at all.

they should not rub if they fit well.

mine is neck bib and belly clipped as we were planning to do some jumping over the winter and was clipped just before the first batch of snow came. he is out in a HW wug and always seems warm enough even later in the evening and his rug does not rub him.

I gave mine a blanket clip end of october and lives out, she is IDxTB. She has a HW full neck rug on with a lW turnout on top as it has been to -12 this week. The rug hasnt rubbed, I bring her in every other day to redo the rugs and give her some attention.

Mine has a MW with neck during the day when he is turned out, sometimes with a LW underneath just for a little extra warmth and a stable rug with LW at night when he is in a nice cosy stable. He is and 18 year old unclipped, Dartmoor X who I feel sorry for going out in cold!

My ID hunter mare is fully clipped out and out 24/7, she has a thin mark todd rug (stable) with 2 weatherbeeta MW NZ combos on top, everytime I check her shes toasty and the rugs have not rubbed her at all.
