rugging - again...

as it is warmer round here at night (was 11 at 10pm last night) i have dropped my horseys rugs down to one 450grm high neck at night and taken the 170grm one out from underneath, is anyone else doing this yet, first winter with horsey so not sure when to start taking them off. Shes a TB so needs to keep warm but doesnt have an issue keeping weight on - she was blanket clipped beg november so is quite fluffy. Whats everyone using during the day - its blustery and wet outside here. So annoying as we have 3 inches of snow one day then two days later warm sun!!!!

My TB is in a fleece and a 110g stable rug at the moment (and toasty warm). He went through winter with a 360g heavyweight on but was sweaty over the weekend overnight. He has huge trouble keeping weight on but is quite a warm horse, surprisingly.

I'm in the same boat as you kombi with a TB that was fully clipped in winter. He was in 2 rugs and I took him down to 1 at the weekend as he was a little sweaty underneath. It's better to have less rugs than too many I think.

Whilst it is quite wet atm, it's not acually that cold at all. It;s a tough one though isn't it?! Darn weather!

thanks guys, i know i shouldnt worry about such trivial things but one day i check her and shes a little chilly the next shes too warm. I wish someone would pay such attention to me!!!!!!

Lil miss moo cow is currently still in four! might drop off the fleece if the weather continues but im not having a skinny tb back again and she is just right!

i know your girlie is a bit more sensitive than my furball who spent the first seven years on bodmin moor, sure she would live out if allowed! your moo seemed just right the other night when i did her.

jacks just had a full clip and is in his light weight with no neck as its sunny. ( hes an irish draft and a bit fat at the moment so plenty of fat to keep him warm lol)
