After some advice...again!
I've got a lovely little 14.3hh cob on loan who I've had about 5 weeks. He is enormously fat although he has lost 30kg according to weightape whilst with me. He's currently out on a field with a nibble of grass and getting an armful of hay twice a day. I fully clipped him just before the heatwave and then had to leave him naked due to the heat. He was working 4-5 times a week for 60-90 mins hacking but schooling whilst we hacked so some of it was quite hard work for both of us. However I had an awkward fall a couple of weeks ago and injured both my hands.
I'm beginning to realise that it's probably going to be a few weeks before I can think about riding again - I feel VERY vulnerable around the horses at the moment and the thought of falling off onto my hands is just awful..plus I couldn't even tack up I'm worried about Bertie not getting exercise and wondering if theres anything I can do to try and maintain his weightloss. He's in a rainsheet today and doesn't appear to be cold or miserable - I would normally have put a 100g on a fully clipped horse, but wonder if underrugging slightly (I don't like the idea of him shivering weight off) might help? He has a handful of chaff with MagOx in it and they have a salt lick, my other 2 are good weights so I've got it right for them.
