I'm keen for Frankie to go into spring as thin as possible - we still have a long way to go.

In the recent freezing weather he has been fine living out 24/7 in his MW (he's clipped apart from face and legs). Now it's milder what are peoples views on switching to his LW until it gets colder again?

There is plenty of grass in his field and lots of room to run round lol

Would change to LW was going to say or nothing, but I see you say he is clipped so that would be unfair. If he's a native type he is designed to loose weight through the winter.

Definately change to a LW and stay in a LW! Otherwise the rug will keep him warm and he wont use up his fat, so you will still have a fat pony in the spring. You havnt got long to get rid of the weight before the grass starts growing more

my fatty is in a LW combo & is clipped the same as yours. shes been in it all thru the cold spell & has been perfectly fine. she is a seriously hot horse tho & would probably overheat in a MW! but it has definately helped her shift a few kilos!

thanks guys
