We had awful weather here in South Wales yesterday - so much so that my horse had a rug with a full neck on last night.

Anyone else rugging in bloomin August??

I haven't but I am going to get mine in for the day to give them a rest from the rain....it really is foul and horrid!!

Some of the horses on our yard have had the fleece type rugs on as it's been quite nippy at night.
Mine is quite hardy, she'll have hers on when it gets closer to freezing :)

Only L/W T/O as they are out 24/7 and the shelter is in the winter field so they can't get in it! (and the floors are half done!) Wouldn't bother usually, but its been long periods of monsoon style rain here, my hubby got home last night in full wet weather gear and still had to pour the water out of his motorbike boots!!!!

Yep. My lad is ruuged at night now. Only a light weight summer sheet but he is fully clipped and it is nippy around dawn.

Yeah sid has been having his light weight summer sheet on or his fleece when its slightly cooler! Im waiting for summer still! Think I must have blinked and missed it! lol!

Yep, summers aren't what they used to be...blinking global warming!!!
Mine has a lightweight turnout oncold rainy days and comes in at night, all year round. He'll be having a summer sheet on tonight as it's getting nippy :( Off to buy a fleece this weekend!!
I go on the weather outside rather than which month we are in. Somepeople on my yard won't rug until Oct regardless of the weather outside...each to their own.

No!!! Ours always let us know if they're miserable by standing at the gate looking fed up, but are still currently playing the "I'm not coming in today, you can't catch me, oh ok then," game!

Yep, I have a T/b and have been putting a sheet on and off depending on weather forecast, but last night due to torrential rain, all the horses on the yard had sheets on. It was real manky yesterday and is still raining this morining :(
Hope it clears up for the long weekend! :D

My lil man is out 24/7 naked *cruel* (But not my fault :()
It is very wet but not cold. Our 26 yr veteran is rugged of course poor fella, he would struggle in the wet in case he got a chill.
Charlie is new though, and came with no rugs. Just purchased a lovely LW turnout for the nights but he is SO wet that I cant get it on him and the rains not stopping. GRRR Hoping for a break in the downpour some time today just so I can get it on him!

NO. All are out 24/7 until November time anyway, and don't care for their lovely expensive rugs. Could have had them on if they'd looked pathetic, but as all were stuffing their faces happily right out in the centre of the field, I didn't offer. Mean or what!

No, my horse is out without a rug, even on the nights. She's starting to grow a winter coat, so she doesn't need a rug. When I clip her, she can have a rug then.
Dont want to rug up in August lol :)

1 of mine is rugged 24/7 unless it is really hot, i cant clip him so rug him to try and keep the winter coat from coming in too thick

I have thought about it - as my pony is out 24/7, but although it is very wet, its still warm down in the south east (19 degrees)

Also - my pony has to wear a fly rug all summer, so this sort of weather is just about the only time he can go naked - and he seems to love it. I bet the rain feels really nice on his itchy skin!

My old man is in L/W T/O in the day when raining altho yesterdya he had a lovely day naked as it was sunny :O shocking kind of like summer!! But he has now decided he would like to come in at 4pm for the night he is naked at night as im still hoping it will warm up so dont want to rug him inside yet!

Two fat cobs are out in the rain without coats - hoping they'll loose some weight! They have lots of trees around the field that they could shelter under but I haven't seen them there. They are still in the middle of the field eating as much as possible. Will clip them at the end of October then they can have rugs on and start coming in at night!

Round here its horible because its raining but really warm however have felt the temp drop abit past few days
maths quite ''round'' at the moment since i couldnt ride so hes only rugged if its hammering down and its only a lightweight he has a fleece if its cold at night but its been rare.Jacks feeling the cold though so hes out with his lightweight rug most of the time and has a lightweight stable rug on.but iv seen one of the pretty showhorses already in a med weight turn out =/ i dont want to chance anything heavy as the weather changes that quick =/

Depressingly, mine has a lightweight on today as its been pouring with rain here since yesterday afternoon. And I've been putting on a fleece when she comes in at night if the temperature is forecast to be below 11 or 12 degrees. She is a hairy mary and I dont really want her to be getting her winter woolies on too early!!

What happened to summer???

You dont' need to tell me about the rain in south wales ;) it was so awful, and it went on all night. I left a bucket out and it must have at least 3 inches of rain in it from yesterday and last night  My fat section a hasn't got any rugs on- usually don't put a rug on her until it starts to get very cold. She's already growing her winter coat and she's got a lovely warm shelter with rubber matting and shavings- I think she stayed in most of the day yesterday. Hope that's the end of the rain in south wales!
