At the moment I am putting a LW rug on my TB overnight (no fill at all) but I am sitting here on my laptop with the kitchen window open and it is actually pretty cold tonight

I am thinking that I might upgrade him to a MW overnight OR start bringing him in at night before too long!

What are you all doing?

I've been rugging up for a couple of weeks now, my mare is arab x welsh 23yro and feels the cold badly..proper wimp!
She's in at night though, she's had a waffle cooler on on the warmer nights, and l/w stable rug on which has kept her all snuggly so far, although tonight I have to agree is pretty nippy and I've only put her waffle on....sure she'l survive a slight chill for the night....just can never tell with this weather in UK...its all over the place....makes it hard to decide what to put on.

Oh well that makes me feel better already

Seems that the days are nice at the moment and the nights are getting damned chilly

He is the first horse I have ever owned who will stand and shiver when he is cold, bless him, and I really dont want him to lose any condition as winter is coming along

My coblet has no rug on, and wont do until she gets clipped..or I may just leave her to become a hairy beast this winter as I wont be riding much - twice at weekends thats it

No rug yet on my TB he's very hardy and gets too hot rather than too cold. not dropping any weight and not shivering when i see him. Will rug him when he gets a clip

No rugs! I gave in last week and he had a LW on overnight when it was peeing it down, but mostly because I didn't want a filthy horse the next day. He is a slightly tubby IDx so it won't hurt him to be out overnight, and he's not going to melt if it rains or die of the cold. I'm also hoping it will help the winter coat come through quicker so I can clip it off!

Two out at night with no rugs and two stabled at night with no rugs. Mine don't get rugged til clipped and the ones living out wont get rugged til Nov. If they have a medium weight rug on when its 10 degrees out what are you going to have on when its -5 degrees. Not starting an argument but just a difference of opinion.

I have been rugging my 28 year old tb up for a couple of weeks now he has a light weight stable rug on if he is in, or a middle weight nz on if he stops out

Pony is in at night with LW rug on, horse is out with LW rug on - sometimes I stick a cooler underneath depending on how windy it is, if its wet she comes in

The horses I look after have been in at night for past couple of weeks, cob has a fleece and wussy tb x is in a stable rug. Both are out in the day in lightweights.

Horse now in at night (yard now on winter regime...summer def over - sob)
Horse naked 24/7. Is a fat lump and could do with burning his weight off keeping warm lol

can't be bothered with the on,off,on,off thing really........all out nice and tubby, exercised daily and don't even think bout rugging till well into October.
Mine aren't TB's though! Theyre a 25 year old ex show pony, a Welsh Sec B and a warmblood....all treated the same! I am a little bit more wary of the old girl tho, but she's fine and fat at the mo!!

My tb hasn't spent a night out without a rug on all summer! He's either had a rain rug (no fill) or his fly rug on. Tonight he has his fly rug on as it was so warm today but it's pretty chilly now so he'll probably be back in his rain rug tomorrow night x

Both out, no rugs, no hard feed, just balancers and grazing for one, hay for the other.

Nope...no rugs yet. Benji(tb type wimp) has had his on a few times in recent weeks when it rained hard but atm its dry so it'll stay off. He doesn't seem to mind cold as long as its dry..
The rest will probably stay naked till January time depending on the weather...

I am the normally the one that rugs waaaaaaaaay before its time but I have left them without rugs for now, Will not be using them untill the end of the month at least, its far too hot to be rugging at the moment.
