Hi, just wondering peoples thoughts on putting fleeces/coolers on under turnout rugs? I have a weathereeta fleece cooler at the mo but it doesn't have sercingles so would have to save that one just for cooling afte exercise, but and am thinking of getting either the new weatherbeeta thermo cell, another fllece but with sercingles, or maybe a pearlbond one (but might be a bit thick) or one of the thermatex ones. I gave him a bath on Satuday afternoon and although it asn't cold, it wasn't he warmist so i turned him out in just his fleece and about 30 mins later he was as dry as a bone! So it is very good. I know the thermatex ones are very very good to, and come in different thicknesses, but are also v v expensive! Sorry to waffle on! Just wondering if anyone does it??

yes, as long as there isnt a downpour! If the TO leaks you'll end up with the horse having a wet under rug. The solution for this is to have a very good TO or one with a half or full neck.

I've put fleece and stable rugs under a turnout before - and stop them slipping as Kerilli mentions but tying a little bit of string through the fillet string loop and attaching it to the leg strap or fillet string attachment on the turnout rug.
