i have just clipped (hunter) my pony and at the moment he is wearing a medium weight turnout at night in an over bedded stable (new heavy weight stable coming) and a heavy weight turnout during the day is this too much to little. He dosent seem to be thin skinned and pathetic lol

Oh I love rugs! I have to respond to all rug posts lol We err on the side of warm as two are clipped, one is a wimp, one is a youngster going through a growth spurt, and they all live out as much as possible. My horse was a warm girl and when the others were in heavy weight rugs she'd be in a light waterproof! She had more rugs than one could shake a stick at, but only wore the lightest. Our horses, other than Tiggy, are a bit wimpy though, apart from the smallest pony, but we keep an eye on them by checking bases of ears, are there any sweaty pathces under the rug, what is happening with their weight (up/down - especially the youngster and the wimpy pone). Maybe a lightweight under rug would be an idea under the stable rug if you think he's a bit chily?
