I have cobs so am used to finding rugs for big horses, but my new horse is a draught x so is bigger, wider and taller then my cobs.
I'm looking for a LW to MW (about 150g to 200g) stable and a MW (200g to 250g) turnout, as cheap as poss because I am completely skint.
I need a 6ft9 or a 7ft depending on how generous the rug make is.

Stable rugs I'm looking at the JHL lightweight rug or the Mark Todd quilted lightweight. Both are 150g. Or the Masta quiltmasta which is 220g.

Turnout rug they only one I can find is the JHL middleweight turnout rug. Which is a 220g.

I use Mark Todd rugs turnout rugs on my cobs and know they fit well so I hope their stables are the same, but not sure on masta or JHL. I have one masta stable which fits my cobs fine but had a turnout that didn't fit at all. And I have a JHL summer sheet that fits fine but not tried any of their other rugs.
Does any have theses rugs? Do you think they will fit a big, wide draught horse?

My 17.1hh Clydie x wears Masta rugs which give him lots of room in the chest, have just bought a Bucus rug which I am VERY impressed by, fits him brilliantly and padded bit on chest makes it really comfy for him. Also have Fal Pro's for him. My friends highland fits in Mark Todd rugs, they are always very long on him so I assume would be ok on a taller horse

I would say weatherbeeta to be honest...

Masta tend to fit cobs and ponies quite well but not really horses IME (not deep enough in the neck / chest so horse strangles itself when it eats!!

I find the JHL rugs to be fab, they are built to the same patterns as the mark todd rugs, and fit my broad chested girl brilliantly. Weatherbeeta tend to rub her shoulders, masta is generally good but can rub her mane. pretty much all her rugs are JHL or Mark Todd now. They both have adjustable chest clips which i think are fab.

I am a big fan of Weatherbeeta as they have fitted all of my horses (16.1hh cob x tb, 16.3hh shire x tb and 17hh 4yr old warmblood x id) without any rubs or movement at all

Im selling a Masta turnout if youre interested, its 7 foot, 180g I think, brand new in bag only tried on, I brought it as a spare but have never needed it. Have some others too all 7foot, let me know if youre interested! Having a clearout!

Ditto for the JHL, will deffo be buying again despite fact he trashed it in some fencing - amazing it's not a write off! Have just bought another make of lightweight (6ft 9 for a 15.2 cob) and it's too tight for my liking on his chest, but a 7ft would be too long so... not too impressed with that. Would deffo buy Masta or JHL for him in future, and he really IS very very wide!

Ive got a Masta NZ which fits Jack well. The Premier Equine ones are good too, nice and generous. Other than that he wears Amigo everything.

See if you can find any second hand Fals, they are very good on the big boys.

My 17hh IDx seems to fit Horseware best. He has Horseware Amigo (the cheap version) which fits quite nicely, is easily deep enough and fits around the shoulders/chest area, and I think his big rug is a Rambo which also fits nicely.

I have a couple of Rhinegold for him and while I quite like RG rugs generally, they aren't a great size or shape for him. Not really deep enough and not generous enough around the chest.

He takes a 6ft9

I have a 16.3 clydesdale x highland and he only fits into Fal rugs or Masta, they are the only ones deep enough.

I find weatherbeta rugs look like miniskirts on him.

My horse takes a 7'3" rug.
