Today my loan of a connie/id arrived - so excited! Technically he is a 6'3" (15.1 but a little long in the back). My 6'3" Horseware wardrobe isn't looking good as several are just not broad enough for his chest so sit too far up his neck. The Amigos are a bit tight, the Rambo Duo looks good, will try the Rhino tomorrow. I know there are older similar posts but what are good options these days? I do prefer quality rather than cheap as it normally is cost effective in the long term. Pics of my cutie just because he is so cute-he is a big pony! My rug experience of the last 10 years+ has been of finer type WBs so this has thrown me a bit. The rug in the pic is a Rambo Duo. Before you tell me he doesn't need rugs he was clipped out last week to go for eventing practice

Ah, the broad-chested horse... None of the ones mentioned above have been any use for my little brick outhouse.

If he's just a little broad, rather than wider-than-tall, Maxima Equestrian are all 1200D, come in funky patterns, and are a really good price. However, I have to go for Big Horse Shop for Blue, despite her only being 14.3hh. If you go BHS, I'd suggest going down a size.

Ruggles (normal range) and Swish do my part bred draft - & she's leg stretchingly wide. Shires highlander range are ok but I don't find the rainsheets have stayed waterproof.

I found the Shires rain sheets have stayed more waterproof than my Ruffles one (which I love but the no fill now leaks like a sieve, the rest are fine.

I agree that Ruggles and Shires usually fit. Maxima Equestrian also fit quite well. I have a Weatherbeeta indoor rug and that is a really nice fit on my chunky mare but I am yet to try a turnout from them.

I have a broad horse. The masta and shires rugs I’ve tried have been far to small. The shires wouldn’t even fasten at the front. Gallop rugs would do as a last resort.

amigo and bucas fit him.

Ruggles heavy horse fit mine very well but they start at 6'6. And though the 50g is fab, the rainsheet is only fit for light drizzle.

Weatherbeeta Comfitec Dynamic Plus (NOT the Essential, Classic or Genero) fits my tank of a HW cob. They all have the memory foam wither pad and are 1200D plus.
Despite being 157cm, 11" bone and XW in saddle fitting, he takes a 6 ft 6, he's 6ft 9 in the Shires rugs but the necks aren't wide enough for him as they fasten with velcro which then constantly pops open. He's out 24/7 so the rugs are worn constantly and have never leaked. I have zero fill, 50g, 100g and 220g and all are totally waterproof.
Good bargains to be had if you google too ;)

I would say Weatherbeeta is on par with Rambo for thoughness. My horse has both and the Rambo has been ripped but not the Weatherbeeta (could be luck as I saw another horse pull on the Rambo and rip it). The Shires rug (only 600 D) is in shreds.
Fit wise, Weatherbeeta is a bit wide around the shoulders, I think similar to Rambo but wider than the standard Amigo range.

Another here for Weatherbeeta dynamic comfitec on big fronts, not had one leak, rub nor break yet.
I keep Shires Tempest as spares for non rug trasher and to be fair they also fit well and no leaking. I'm not keen on the buckle fronts tho.

I'll never have any more ruggles due to leaking and extremely unhelpful response blaming me for a month old rug leaking. Customer service wasn't......

Fellboy has a Rambo duo that sits well on him - rarely need to use the hood as rain doesn't come down his shoulders. The Amigos do not fit him at all.

Other makes that fit are
Weatherbeeta Comfitec turn-out rugs but not their stable ones though the ceramic thermal fleece jobby fits well a size up!!!!!
Shires Highlander turnouts and fly rugs - they are more accommodating of big shoulders than the tempest ones which don't fit.
