Can anyone recommend a lightweight turnout rug of reasonable price that fits horses who are more deep-chested? Also, has anyone had any experience of buying rugs from The Big Horse Shop? My 4 yo is 16.2hh, will fit a 6'3" rug length wise but, although he wore an Amigo lightweight in the bad weather last year, as he's quite broad and deep-chested I feel it pulls to tightly across his wither. I came across the co. mentioned just via a quick Google and their rugs are reasonably-priced but I have never heard of them?!
Any experiences or indeed suggestions of other makes that may suit?
Thanks!

I've got a chunky CBx mare and a well built IDx gelding and both of then fit nicely into the Shires "Tempest" range.

Poor things now have Tempest fly rugs, light weights and medium weights! will be getting the heavies too at some point.

My mare is 15.3hh and takes a 6ft6 and the boy is 16.3hh and takes a 6ft9"/7ft I love the tempests. They've only had the lightweights on in all this rain and they've been out 24/7 in it with just an hour in to dry off and eat. Rugs have not leaked at all :)

They aren't the cheapest but about the next step up not even middle price :) pleased with mine.

I personally don't really like the Premier Equine rugs - but they do fit the chunkier types well.
Personally in your shoes I'd pay a bit extra and go for Rambo XL

The thing is he doesn't really need a rug as he isn't being ridden (due to our backing process not going 100% to plan but that's another story!) it would just be handy to have something if exceptionally heavy rain/snow etc. He grows a pretty decent coat so I don't need anything with a lot of fill. I don't want to fork out on Rambo really as, of all our horses he's the most likely to try and destroy it! :-) I also am not convinced they are even deep enough? Is an Amigo xl made wider than standard?

Swish rugs - they seem to sit further up the neck so fit my broad chested horses. Also use Weatherbeeta original fit, but the quality doesn't seem to be as good as it was, so now if any need replacing, I buy Swish.
(My horses are stocky quarter horses 14.2-15 and wear 6'3" rugs)
