Have an extremely heavy set but stumpy (14hh) cob, he is fully clipped and hogged, ( my intention was to keep him hairy but he had lice :() I'm after recommendations fo hardy rugs that will not rip and are suited to chunkier breeds, so far he has trashed a saxon, weatherbeeta and an amigo, I usually use PE but don't want ton spend over £100

I always used masta on my heavy cob, he was a devil with rugs and these ones usually lasted the longest and fitted him properly! And if they did get trashed it was easy replaced as didn't cost a fortune :)

I found Fal rugs are good on my very large shouldered, deep chested horse and despite him being a rug trasher, his 3 fal rugs are still going strong after 9 years.(More patches than rug now I think!) They're no cheaper than PE (more if anything) though. I'd keep an eye out on e-bay etc for second hand ones. Two of mine were e-bay bargains.

Shires typhoon and highlander for our maxi cob (percheron x). For my little fellow, 14.1, short round heavy weight cob I have found weatherbeeta landas fit a treat. I have a full neck as he is mostly white, plenty of room for neck and shoulder, no slippage and good price.
