can anyone reccomment me a rug for a fine high withered TB?.

I am currently using horseware and love them ( amigos's and rhino's ) however the necks have no fill.

Id like to buy her another rug which has a full neck ( can be att of detachable ) with some fill in it without breaking the bank.

I find many rugs on high withered horses slip back and rub at the shoulder so want something that will fit her well.

Any suggestions?

second the weatherbeetas we use them on my sisters tb x and he is snug in his and it means we can keep him out all year round (i.e stop him going utterly mad he hates boxes so we had to find a decent rug!)

Claire I have a Weatherbeeta orican combo on Joe and it doesn't slip at all. It has normal buckles in front rather than the buckles and clips that most rugs seem to gave these days. I've never been a great fan of weatherbeetas but this one has changed my mind.

I agree re. the wb's slipping back. The horseware ones have been the only ones that work for my boy, he is spoilt and gets a rhino wug under either an amigo LWT or HWT depening on the weather....the main thing that makes horses cold is the wet, so the no fill in the neck has never bothered me much, he is always toasty and happy

I;ve got 3 weatherbeetas for my TB, fits him very well, does not rub or slip at all, even his mad rolling and he wears it alot! One is the Orican Combo and the neck piece does keep him toasty!

I've just been trying out some Kingshead ones. I think they look look really good and might do you. Horse is a TB x with no withers and they slip back on him for that reason!! So far he's been fine in a full neck MW.

Fal, every time, for me. they never rub, and even if they do slip back a little, they slide easily over the horse and so i just pull them forward every time i feed. i've got them on pure tb and very high-withered wb, he's out in his every winter 24/7, and it's fine.
go for the full neck ones though because then can gape a bit at the top of the neck and allow a breeze in! but they'll never rub.

i have the weatherbeeta arion combo on mt TB at the- he has really high withers. it doesn't slip back at all, im really pleased with it.

other than that, the pessoa rugs fit him well and don't move on him at all, and he's a loon in the field.

Only ever put horseware on TB's......other makes are too large round the shoulder and slip back.....I have been know to put an other make over the top of a horseware rug when layering though but never underneath

I like the weatherbeeta rugs for my TB however this year shes in a masta which isnt too bad.
My saddler once told me that no rug should ever be too big around the neck, if it is you should use the size down.
I dont know how true this is or is its a load of rubbish but Ive never had any reason to doubt her before. Just a thought anyway!!

I found Derby House rugs a great fit on my two tb's.... my mare was badly rugged by a weatherbeeta but the DH one sits perfectly and hasnt rubbed at all, plus its a 1600 denier so she hasnt ripped it yet!!!

I have the shires stormbreaker combo on my high withered TB. Has never rubbed him or slipped and he is in it 24/7. Not too expensive either. Think its about £70.

I have Fal and Premier Equine for my TB, and would definitely go for Premier Equine again. It's the only rug she didn't manage to rip to shreds last winter and fitted a treat.

I agree that Derby house own make rugs are a great fit on TBs and great value for money. I also have a Premier Equine one on one horse at the mo and although it is a bit more expensive it doesn't move and is the only rug I have ever had on the mare that the seams don't rub the top of her forelegs.
