I am looking online for rugs ready for the winter and was just wondering what the highest GSM you can get in rugs? and what everyone normally uses?

No idea what GSM means but I'm assuming its weights.

Depends on your horse really. I think the max is 450/480gms. I only ever have rainsheets, 200gms and 300gms.

As a rough guide I use the 200gms probably October - November then once it starts getting very low temps the 300gms come out !

If you're wanting more warmth for winter, try layering rugs as it creates more heat that one heavy rug alone - eg: 300gram with a 200g rug underneath :)

The Horseware layering system is great - the liners fit the Rambo and Rhino range and come in 100-400gm so you can mix and match, and because no layer is too bulky they go in the washing machine and dry quicly - brilliant design
