I'm going to get the old man a new rug this winter, but we have issues with a lot of rugs slipping on him.
His Shires 0g doesn't slip, but both Amigo Mios do (50g and 100g). His PE heavy does sometimes, although I think that's because its already so heavy, and then when he adds wet mud, gravity takes over. His Bucas Smartex does too, but I think that's because it's too long for him.
Any recommendations for decent rugs that won't slither sideways off him? He is pretty broad through the chest, with massive shoulders.

I’ve found swish rugs not to slip where PE and Weatherbeeta both have sometimes on the same horse - they seem to work well with broader horses as the neck is cut higher

I've never had a problem with Swish or the Big Horse ones - they do a "regular" big horse which is good for broad chests. Swish are cheaper though and have great colours!

He could do matchy matchy with baby cob in that colour - except ours is more shades of brown sadly. Looked lovely for a few hours anyway.

Glad it fits. Think we can thank you for the late summer weather 😁

Agree about Swish I have one for my mare and it fits beautifully and does not move. It also doesn't leak and its warm in the cold weather for her.

Glad you've got sorted but sometimes, rugs slip because the surcingles are too tight and once they've started to slip there's no chance for them to go back to place properly. I've never had any problems of slipping with Rambo or Rhino rugs on various different types.

They definitely aren't too tight - he's a bit uneven now he's old, so they slip off his less muscled side. No fills are fine, but anything a bit pouffey tends to disappear one way!

Glad that your new rug fits, but for future reference I've found that the Rambo Wug slips very little on my properly wonky IDx mare, who is the same stamp of build as Alf. Her right hip is 3" lower than her left hip 😳 due to a major pelvic injury sustained in a field accident in early lockdown #1.

She's 16.1 hh and happy as Larry in her 6'9" 50g Wug. She mostly lives out, so it's very important that her rugs fit well.
