Hello everyone,

So I just bought a German Warmblood gelding and wanted to buy all new rugs, indoor, outdoor, fleece, cooler and exercise rugs... What would you recommend? I don't really have a strict budget as I want lasting quality vs replace every year.

I've just bought a couple of swish turnouts and have been very impressed. True to size, fab quality, nice and deep and I really like the neckline. They've been designed to sit higher to avoid dragging back over the withers.

Premier Equine are well made, reasonably priced, generous fit and they last.
I only use outdoor rugs simply because I think they cope with stable stains better

I have a wb and his amigo rug keeps blowing clean off him.

just got a weatherbeeta freestyle and its realy good. well designed with great features, includding a fleece collar that goes snug around his neck, and would never blow off.
being a softy hes in a 400 now.

For turn out - Horseware Rambo completely unbeatable. My horse can virtually destroy any other brand of rug. Also all the others brands eventually let water in. The wug rug is a good shape to prevent rubbing. They do come up a little generous to size though. Amigo and Mark todd are also good for PJ's.

I've just got some D rings to sew onto my horseware rugs so I can use leg straps with them when it's windy. It's the one downside of 'fillet strap only' rugs - they blow off in high winds.

another vote for Horseware Rambo...and Amigo and weatherbeeta too do a decent enough job.

Just last week, i bought a 100gram 'insulator' to go underneath my Amigo 1200D turnout as it's just a 'no fill' rug,...but fastening my inslulator rug into (and it's very secure as very strongly velcro fastened through the metal loop buckles at shoulders of my Amigo rug and also clipped onto the d rings at the back of the rug) now makes it a smashing 'dual fuel' rug!! I can take the insulator out whenever i please and voila....i have a no fill rug again! Marvellous

They do the insultors in 200, 300 and 400 gram as well as the 100 gram. I have a 'hot bod' of a little man so went for the lowest gram, but if i needed to, i would most defintely buy another one of these at the heavier weight in the future. Very easy to clean too!

Premier Equine are well made, reasonably priced

We are obviously at the opposite ends of the rug price scale I think PE rugs are horrifically overpriced and plan on never, ever buying one!

Another vote for swish, I also have some Shires rugs I like, and my Amigo Mio lightweight turnout has stood up to the test really well.

If money isn't an issue, I would go for Rambo or Rhino everytime. I also have Bucas rugs which are nice but... not quite as nice as Rambo - IMO!!

I love the rambo rugs with the liner system I also like the fact its eaiser to clean the liners regularly rather than washing the whole rug. My boy is very happy with the freedom of movement he gets from his rambo duo. Also the original thermatex is great for drying off.

If money is no object I would go for Rambo I have full set of wugs for my pony who lives out and they have never blown off and seem strong, waterproof and comfortable for him.

I also like the look of new Rambo with the different weights combined into one rug but cant see myself buying one as the wugs are still going strong.

Love Amigo rugs for both stable and turnout, have always found Masta stable rugs fit my mare well but never tried a T/O rug of theirs, and really rate Bucas T/O's. The best bargain I ever had tho was an Axiom middleweight combo T/O rug off eBay, only cost me about £45 but is now going into its 5th winter and still going strong. Would be interesting to know if others have used these as no one I know has and if they find them as good as mine?

Ooo Oooo Me Me...i too bought an Axiom MW combo T/O rug in the blue tartan colour a couple of winters ago and what a bloomin' bargain that was!!.. Love this rug and it's a firm favourite of mine. Plenty of room for a horse to properly move about in, no rubbing marks are ever present anywhere,..nice big tail flap that keeps the wind off 'em and well...just an all round really good rug... i paid around £55 for it (including posting).
