What weight of rugs do everyone have on their horses at the moment, its becoming difficult as they are getting warm during the day but it cools down so much at night and unfortunately they get turned out in the morning and I only get up at night.

Mine has a 200g with neck, i did take the neck off yesterday as it was mild but only 6 degrees again today so back on. He was hunter clipped but it's grown out quite a lot now

My anglo arab, who as a neck & belly clip, has a light weight (with 100g fill) on at night & is naked during the day, it was cold at 6.30 this morning when I took her rug off but I decided it was worth being a bit chilly for a short time. I'm sure she's glad to be able to have a proper roll & a scratch

Has been naked out during the day since Saturday (when the sun finally came out). We've swapped routine as of yesterday eve so now he's in during the day (naked) and out overnight, with a 200g on at the moment as its chilly and he's a fine (ish) WB. However he isnt clipped.

I'd say if its 5 degrees or more and your horse isnt clipped, no reason why he/she shouldnt be naked during the day - horses need vitamin D just like we do, so if the sun is out make the most of it before the flies arrive! If out at night I'd say a LW or MW will be fine, its still hovering around 1-2 degrees in my area at night so still cold, hence why mine has something on overnight for now.

Its that awkward time of year again. Mines just gone out 24/7 too, she had a 100g on yesterday and the previous night, 200g last night and today. Her clip is growing out too which makes things a little tricker to get right.

It's so warm here, but not very grassy yet, so I had a big bale put in the field and my hunter clipped boy is now living out - 200g rug overnight and naked or lightweight during the day (depending on wind chill) if I could only get up once a day i'd probably lob a 100g on :)

Mine are in 50 and 40. The one in 50 has most of her summer coat through, she started shedding her coat in January. The one in 40 is clipped. I have debated taking rugs off but field is exposed and also pretty muddy. They are in 100 stable rugs overnight.

Been in these rugs a month, before that they were in 150 and 140. Not been cold here this winter at all. Just wet. Very wet!

I usually take rugs off at the end of March so not long to go if the weather stays like this.

All 3 of mine are in different weight rugs, i hate this time of year!!

Am i the only person who has no idea on rug weight numbers, i just call them LW, LW with fill, MW, HW :D

Fulling clipped fat elephant is naked, though he is losing a nice amount of weight, or in a rain sheet. Fleece at night.

Retired wb is naked unless raining

The full clipped spotty is in a medium standard neck quilt at night and either rain sheet or 100g in the day.

Mine is in a 150 at night, has been naked today as the sun has been lovely but it's back on for tonight, it drops pretty cold where we are, he is a woolly mammoth atm though :D

I've got one in a lightweight at night, naked in the day. The other is still in her heavyweight!

Both are clipped, every horse is different :)

This time of year is so awkward! Mine is in a 200g but I have a 100g on standby. He's fully clipped and it hasn't really grown out.

Both in 100g turnouts during the day I might put a thicker one on at night if they need it but they have felt warm the last few nights so not bothered, both were full clipped through the winter but are moulting now with summer coat coming through.

My girls today went out in sheets with no fill, it was sunny here in Kent but a chilly wind. I thought I had got it wrong but having got them both in the pair are glowing warm and Ebony has a full clip but has always been a radiator with heat. For tonight they are in 100gm stable rugs.
