Rugs stolen off horses' backs AGAIN

Just had another idea. Electrify the gate?
Hide the battery for the fence and put a whopper of a current through the gate and fencing. Obviously you will know where the battery is to turn it off but I would find that funny, you could set an obsticle course of tripwires with blanks and electrified fencing!! :D

I think I would end up going underground literally and sleeping in the ditch etc with a burly man! Big stick. You think i am joking! Night vision etc etc That is just awful.

Bloody thieves

Is there any way you can put a tall fence at that end of the field? Not aesthetically pleasing, I know. My Mum had to put up a concrete fence to stop scallys from the neighbouring estate stealing from our garden, years ago.

Bear in mind re CCTV cameras that our local council at old house put one up to stop flytipping and the travellers stole it within 3 days and put it up on their stallion's box to stop other travellers nicking him......kind of ironic really.....

So big CCTV notices and a dummy CCTV but the real ones little and hidden would be the only way for that I think.

If you put up a lovely fence make sure it doesnt have any metal gates or metal parts....they wont last long (the police would ask us to ring when we heard the angle grinders starting up in the site....) And padlocks - hmmm might delay them a little but bolt croppers are de rigeur tools of the trade.

Big black and tan dogs are the only thing that they are really concerned by. (how I came to own this lad :-))))

Nightmare. I would just be grateful that they didn't take the horses though tbh. Ignore the padlock suggestions - imagine a horse getting caught up and panicking in a rug that you couldn't undo - urgh, doesn't bear thinking about.

OMG I so want your dog!

while i would personally really like the option of causing grief to anyone stealing rugs off my horses I think you should check the legalities. It would be really rubbing salt into the wound if one of the pigs then ended up trying to sue you because they hurt themselves.. I "think" the way round is for notices warning people but would check to be on the safe side.
