Hi all,
My 2yr old has gone through another growth spurt and has now out grown his 6ft rug. I have ordered him a new 6’3 lightweight turnout rug but I know I’m going to have the same problem with the last rug - the belly surcingles!

I have them on the shortest length possible but they are still too long due to him needing to fill out to properly fit the length he has grown to. My last rug I put a knot in the surcingle to make it short enough, however with his new rug I don’t really want to do this as it should be his final rug and hopefully last him a few years unless he destroys it.

I have seen you can get replacement surcingle buckle sets but is there any kind of attachment to help shorten further? At the moment Google is failing me.

Many thanks.

I'd get a big, tough needle and some strong thread to sew an overlap in the surcingle. You can then cut the stitches and let it back out whenever you want. :)

Thanks all, I'll dig out the sewing machine and have a go. I had to use it with his last rug too as the depth of the rug ended up way below his knees but didn't think to use it on the surcingle

I doubt it will be his final rug as my 5 year old didnt fit into his 4 yr old rug, so Id say hes got a few new rugs in him yet as a 2 yr old. So knotting it should be fine imo.
