My head in sand attitude to the approaching winter is currently being scuppered by my beloved gingerface already sporting an impressive winter coat (grrr) So thinking about rugs, in the hope a bit of retail therapy might cheer me up :)

Last year, dispite at times wearing 600+grms worth of rugs, her Gingerness grew little cat hairs on her tummy & bum. Now bum easy to sort, she just needs a longer rug but the under tum hairs are a bit trickier.....

Is there such a rug that has tummy flaps? I have an old Taka with them but the rest of the rug is no good for her as is full neck & rubs/falls down!

Not fussy which brand, price not too much of issue as looks like I'll soon have 4 horses all wearing same size so will get wear out of it ;)

Failing that, do people find snuggy jams under rugs help?

Can of coke & cookie dough ice cream on offer.....

forgot to say the snuggy hoods things are no good for my horse he is too broad in the neck and just wrecks the fronts and they rub his withers.

it stretches and slips back on my horse, there is a stretchy bit around the front (where a normal rug would fasten) but it doesn't stand up to my horse, he is chunky but does have a good wither.
oh and the other this is you can take the tummy bit off if you don't need it. I got the 200g one and put other rugs under if needed.

I would be more inclined to go for the rurnout version of the snuggy hood rug as the fleece material is very thick and would just get soggy. The turnout version is made from a similar material to jodhpurs and while not waterproof it doesnt absorb lots of water and dries easily

The only complaint i have about mine is that the tummy flap gets grubby quicker than the rest of the rug but isnt completely detatchable meaning the whole thing has to be washed - not sure if thats all if them or just mine as mine was a special order small size

If you get the right size the turnout rug shouldnt slip as its quite clingy and stretches in different directions unlike the fleece which like all fleeces may slip a bit

Dreamchaser equestrian on facebook can make an under rug for your spec. Mine was satin lined fleece with waterproof belly cover - its fab!
