Just wondering what turnout rugs everyone is recommending now? I need to get my boy a 100g and probably a 250g coming into the winter and he does get really chilly so needs a decent tail flap!

I used to always use Amigo but they don't fit him properly.

I have a Weatherbeeta ComfiTech Plus Dynamic Lite in 0g but i dont want 3 different rugs that all look the same!! I'm happy to use liners but sometimes it's easier to just throw on a rug than faff around with lines especially in the wind and rain!
I do have a 50 Swish and thinking of just getting these in the heavier ones but just wondering what everyones thoughts are. He's a Cob X so needs to be soemthing to fit the slightly chunkier ones. At least 1200D.

Also looking for stable rug recommendations too as I only have the Amigo stable rug and liner system which don't fit him!

I have been impressed with the Swish turnouts that I bought two years ago. I got he 50g outer and use the liners as required. I have found that you can use the liner from any company on any turnout so have a combination of Horseware and PE liners that I interchange. I am working on the basis that the Swish rugs won't last as long as my Horseware Rambo Duo rugs but at the price I got them I will just replace as needed.

I don't use stable rugs unless I have a horse on boxrest. They live in their turnouts - obviously check them under the rug daily (rug off). In winter they are out during the day and in at night.

I was pleasantly surprised by the Gallop Trojan 100g turnout. It was a generous cut and coped really well with the storms and ridiculously wet winter we had last year and was a good price. I tend to use liners for everything - I use multiple so that I can take off a layer in the morning without stripping and then do a full rug change in the evening when I have more time and to check the horse over and put both liners back on so that they have the heavier weight needed for overnight.

Mine are out 24/7 so can't help much with the stable rugs.

I bought a Shires highlander combo last year in 100g because the 100g Rambo I splashed out on rubbed my horses wither (as do all detachable neck rugs) and I love it! 1200d cheap, light to handle but feels nice quality.
I’d definitely recommend that.

I use Swish as prefer to use liners than have different weight rugs. I've just bought a Shires Highlander Plus which is a liner system too & has been recommended on here.

I use turn out rugs in the stable too.

Mine is in either Ruggles or Big Horse Shop turnouts, and whatever I can find cheaply secondhand as stable rugs. I do change rugs unless they come in sopping wet. I can put stable rugs in my washing machine and I loathe smelly rugs, which seem inevitable with a big wet gelding, no matter how thick I make the bed.

Swish or Shires highlander here! Both have liners so ideal for different temperatures. Both fit a wider horse well too!

We don’t bother with stable rugs unless they are going to be stabled for a while as ours go in and out of the walker/ turnout pen twice a day if too wet for the fields and just easier to keep the turnout on…they are breatheable anyway so no concerns about wearing a lot

I was considering the Plus as a higher denier but the plus are quite limited in weights in seems!

Can the Swish liners be used on the shires or vice cersa? I do have a 50g swish liner at the moment

Ah yes the Plus is the higher denier! Are you pleased with this rug? This is one that I have been looking at!

I've not used it a lot as I only bought it last winter when my horse needed an inbetween weight but yes really pleased with it. I think its quite smart looking which is nice! I'd certainly buy again.

I use weatherbeeta or shires the highlander are bigger all round I find.

I do use liners mainly the 50g ones and I tend to just take the top rug off when they come in and put a fleece over the top

Yes I use various liners in my shires and weatherbeeta rugs.

I mainly use Gallop now, cheap enough to replace and such. I don't use stable rugs really now as they stay in their turnouts.

I've just bought a Highlander for my Fell pony, and it fits him really well (he has a full clip before anyone tells me off!).

Out in the rain all night and dry as a bone thus morning.

Dop you all have combos or detachable necks? I've always been temped by detachable sand then you have more use and i find they rub the mane less but i'd never put a 200g or heavier on without a neck so considering a combo! Can you still attach liners to the combos?

Another vote for Swish - they are really good quality and fit really well and you can change the liners and also get the necks in different thicknesses too.

I only have detachable necks - I have a hot horse and they aren't needed often

Detachable necks here as I hate the mane rub! I always go lighter on the neck..some people suggest the neck being too hot is one of the reasons you may lose manes. So I always go one less than the rug eg 200g rug and 100g neck. Swish do the different weights too x

Detachable neck. I’ll be honest my horse wears his turnout overnight in the stable and I take the neck off. No mane loss and lot cleaner.
I have the Lemieux Arika turnout and it fits nicely, it is durable and didn’t leak last winter.

I think I'll definatley do detachable necks as I always have done! Swish seem super popular and I do really like their rugs! My boy is a Cob X but really feels the cold!
