Can anyone recommend rugs that are a bit more generous in the shoulder/chest area? My girl is in 6ft 6 rugs which fit perfectly length wise but so far both rugs I've bought her (Shires and Le Mieux) are a bit too snug around her shoulders. I'd like to get her a TO rug but don't want the next one to be the same! Any suggestions gratefully received :)

Thanks everyone, looks like Weatherbeeta are my next attempt! She's an ISH but she has a huge chest and shoulders. If weatherbeeta is no good I'll try the big horse shop next.

Thanks all! :)

Weatherbeeta freestyle were good on my last horse who was a tb but had big shoulders and chest. These are older though so not sure how the current lines compare. Mark Todd, Amigo and Gallop were too tight. Rhinos OK and Premier Equine completely wrong being too tight over the shoulder but too big everywhere else.

Struggling to find any weatherbeeta freestyle rugs for sale - they're all comfitec. I'm a little reluctant to try comfitec as I had one for a Fjord I loaned (built like an absolute tank) and that was tight for her on the shoulders. Hmmm.

I bought a gallop rug as it was cheaper than the others and I was broke , it was too big in the shoulders for my loan horse who was TB/Selle Francais so might be worth a look

Weatherbeeta. Hands down. Only thing that seems to fit my skinny but freakishly big shouldered TB (ok he's not so skinny any longer....). I think it's the freestyle that works well (the ones with shoulder gussets anyways)

Depends on how big the shoulders really.

We're a Big Horse big shoulders sizing. Wetherbeeta looks like she's wearing clothes belonging to her skinny sister.

I think it also depends on whether it is a horse that had relatively big shoulders for its type like my tb or if the horse is chunky all round.

I have a warmblood with big shoulders. Amigo / Shires / Weatherbeeta / standard Rambo restrict the length of stride he can take with his front legs when wearing the rug.

Rambo Optimo, Premier Equine (Buster style with the the long high shoulder split ONLY), and Big horse (broad fit) Epic rugs fit.

But 2 of 3 Big horse broad fit Epic rugs leaked last year after less than six months of rotated usage.

Whittaker Rudson And Gallop Trojan both really good around the shoulders. Lari was typical very wide through the chest, the PE didn't last five minutes!

I bought three Big horse turnout rugs new last winter for one horse, used in rotation. By spring two were leaking. I have reproofed and still leaking. I am not impressed.
I won't buy their rainsheets because I had a similar problem, but I've never had an issue with anything 40g upwards and I've got a lot of them due to (until last year) owning a heavy horse and one who is a part-bred.

It is the no fill which leaks worst. The 50gm is less leaky than the no fill. To be fair I am not sure if I have re-tested that one after it leaking and being re-proofed.

The 200gm has seams in shoulders that have come unstitched, despite being least used.

Disappointing when all were new last winter, and all were used so rotated use across three the rugs for one winter.

Glad this isnt typical for them.
