One of my horses wears a 6ft rainsheet but a 6ft3 heavyweight - I guess due to the thickness of the filling. She has a 6ft3 mediumweight which is slightly too big but a 6ft is too small!

I am thinking of getting her the new Rambo Optima but I don't know which size to get as I want it to do for all weights - does anyone else have this problem and if so how do you know which size rug to go for?

Thank you

I have a premier equine "buster trio" for my mare & I love it! Their sizes seem to come up slightly short, but have brilliant depth. She is 6'3 - 6'6 so I tend to go for the larger option but her fly rug is huge lol!

I think it all depends on the make of rug tbh. One of my ponies has 5' in everything but his snuggy hoods sweet itch rug - but maybe thats cos he's fat?! :D

I'd go for a 6'3".

I had the Rambo duo on my lad, the 6'3" was a bit snug and wouldn't have fitted liners in, the 6'6" was slightly 'roomy' without the liners but fit well with them.

would love to hear your reviews of this rug when you get it please... thinking of getting one but wanted to hear first hand of experiences first.

Thanks 3 beasties, it's such a pain because I'm trying to cut down on the number of rugs my girls have so thought I would do the liner system and then I will have more storage room & less cleaning bills at the end of winter. Well, that's the theory!

I am still a bit concerned that any liner system I buy will only fit well for part of the year and then be too big or small when I change liners. It's a dilemma.

Akashapachamama I was actually researching FalPros last night & it's possible I may go for one of those instead of the Optimo as I had a Rambo Duo for a short period of time & didn't get on with it at all, despite being a huge fan of Rambo & Rhino Wugs and Wug Pluses.

Go a size up for Horseware and a size down for FAL. Try a 6'3" Rambo, or if you go the FAL route, try 6'. General rule of thumb.

I've never found my Duo too big or small no matter what liner I have under it - maybe my horse shrinks by the time it's cold enough for a thick liner?!

Thanks Silmarillion, I was wondering about the sizing of Fals.

Both my horses have smaller rainsheets than they do any other rugs, but they always have Horseware ones so maybe it's something to do with their cuts. I did read something ages ago about this and I think they cut them differently depending on the filling. Could be my memory is fooling me though!

I do wonder if the pleated design of the Optima will make it bigger than normal Horseware rugs. I would try it over a summer sheet so the you can return it if it's the wrong size.
