Sorry for the trivial post!
what rugs are everyones horses wearing atm. Mine has on a masta heavy weight stable and fal pro full neck on in the day (turned out all day) and at night he has the masta stable rug, king sized feather duvet and mark todd ultimate stable rug. He still looks freshly clipped, but with a fluffy face. (he is a wimp and gets cold!)
When do people reduce the rugs? Thank you!

I reduced mine today because it was so hot!!! I use a Masta Dynamix to turn out in with an under rug but turned out today in the under rug and a light weight new zealand. He has been in at night with a summer sheet, a duvet under rug and a thick stable rug. Tonight he just has a sheet, a fleece and the thick stable rug. I just go by the weather on the day at the time!!

Blimmin 'eck, mine was sweating under her lightweight today and I had a few at work in their stables naked today. Granted, not the clipped ones (they had Thermatexes on or similar) but the ones with old clips were perfectly happy without today. They've all been out in single layers today; most of them are in heavyweight rugs of varying brands (lots of Rambos so mostly 370g).
I know I'm farther south than OP but I can't imagine it's actually freezing point up there is it?!

Clipped neddy has gone from a mediumweight full-neck with under-rug to just the mediumweight. Unclipped beastie has gone from mediumweight to lightweight, and if my sharer hadn't been doing her today I think I might even have put her out naked it was so warm down here in the tropical south.

At night the clipped one is in a 300g full neck stable rug but not the jersey cooler underneath any more. The unclipped one has gone from a 300g to a lightweight stable rug with no neck.

Looks like we have a few more settled days to come.

Its been warm up here all week but the wind has made it feel a little chilly. My fully clipped mare is turned out in a HW rambo and stabled in a HW, the under rugs have come off this week. My gelding has changed into his MW.
I think the lowest it has been during the day this week is around 7 degrees, not layers weather IMO.

Ditto. I was just taking the under rug off during the day but keeping both on at night, but he was quite warm when I left the yard at 7pm this evening, so I left him with just the f/neck medium weight tonight - hopefully temp wont drop drastically!

Two year old naked, warmblood with no fur is in 220g masta stable rug has been in weatherbeeta 360 she went out in a no neck 200g and has been in 300g, tbx naked today with 100g on atm but she has a little bit more fur than warmblood all of them were perfectly warm and i normally rug mine up loads!

ok maybe its time to take one of the rugs off! the wind has been really cold today, but i think i am being abit soft. He got clipped 3 months ago with fine baldes and he still looks like hes been waxed!!!

Thank you!!x

Unclipped native is naked at night and has his light weight unfilled summer rug on. Its sunny and dry today, so I will take his rug off when I get up to the yard.

Mine all live out 24/7. The 2 veteran natives are unclipped and have nothing on (only rugged in real cold / wet / snow etc.), the other 2 natives (1 hunter clipped but generally a hot horse) have Weatherbeeta Orican's on. The other horse who is woosy and blanket clipped has his Weatherbeeta Tristar on with the 300g liner attached.

I dont really reduce until end of March-ish, totally depends on the weather.

LW stable rug with HW full neck over the top for turnout, is clipped. LW stable rug, HW no neck and HW full neck at night
Unclipped one is wearing a MW turnout.

They did both get an hour without yesterday to have a roll and scratch.

Hi,

Personally I don't think that there can be any rigid date to reduce rugs really.

It all depends on the horse, you can have one that's sweating rivers and another in the same barn who is huddled in a corner shaking.

Mine are keeping theirs on for a bit longer yet, the wind here is bitterly cold. When the temperature is consistently above zero I'll see how they are feeling then.

My TB and sisters native x have nothing on in the day and a mw at night. Welshie has been naked all winter! All unclipped this year though and living out 24/7.

My TB is unclipped but has a very fine coat, in a LW standard neck stable rug, last month he was in a full neck MW and when it was freeeeeezing a few weeks ago both of those rugs.
Gone from his MW and a LW turnout to just a LW (no filling at all) or on the nice days we have had recently no rug at all.
