Hi Everyone

A new rug company is launching Spring 2010...

Are there any types of rugs you think are missing from the horse rug market? What are your favourite colour rugs for summer?

I am not sure this is so much a rug but used to love the lycra body vest not head and neck for keeping them shiney and clean under the bigger rugs. Struggle to get a reasonable price version of this.

I like cow print

, on a more serious note I love my Red and Silver ones from the premier equine range and I have a bright blue/turquoise one from the William Funnel range which is nice too

Yes I had a cheap version from Derby House years ago had pink faces of something on and my poor horse was embarressed to wear it. Found it great though for preventing rubs, keeping coat clean as it was easy wash each week and it did act as another thin layer when layers count. Mine was probably slightly more fitted and didn't have a belly piece.

those things are brilliant!
at matts we would shampoo and hose the horses down the evening before, plait + stud etc (flat studs) , then shove one of those on! then next morning put there travel boots on and shove them on the lorry!!!!

I think rugs designed for yearlings, would be nice. Pony rugs do not go big enough i.e. stop at 5'0"-5'6" and full size rugs are to big across the neck/shoulder area.

horseseekers - useful place for research here isnt it? lol.

Colour-wise, if Im honest Im not really bothered by colour at all. I buy based on the rug itself. For a start, I'll never buy a turnout thats less than 1200 denier as all rugs Ive bought as less than this have ripped and leaked very easily.

Would also like those stretch lycra under-rugs too, I've bought two in the past but they were dreadful - stretched TOO much and ended up slipping right back and the static was awful! Failing that, maybe you could do an under-sheet which comes with the rug and you can clip on/off to wash it - so maybe it would have a cotton outer surface (to keep its shape) with lycra or that smooth nylon stuff underneath, that would be good... Especially if such a thing would be invented for neck covers as they get so greasy where the mane is.

Melton Wool rugs with separate surcingles and matching tail guards, but not as exp as DH. Shires used to do them really cheap and also did the summer sheets with a tail guard and separate surcingle. More turnout rugs with belly cover like the Weatherbetta Takas would be good and make turnout rugs a bit deeper. Apart from show rugs not bothered about colours, would never now buy rugs that weren't combos.
