Can anyone recommend a good turnout rug that will withstand horses' teeth! To explain in brief, we have a 3 yr old TB who is resting before going off for reschooling and is turned out. He is playful as any 3 yr old is but not naughty and his rugs are getting ripped to shreds by another horse in the field. Two rugs have been completely ruined and the necks torn off two others. He is clipped (yearling clip) ready for his 'holiday' but does not go for another 3 weeks. Any suggestions for good rug in the meantime would be appreciated. If he has a rug on with no neck his own neck gets bitten badly and lots of skin missing and scars.

You need a rug with an outer that has a high denier.

Mark Todd do a full neck Heavyweight Turnout that is 1200 denier and I've sold loads in my shop. My horses also have them and I can't recommend them highly enough.

As Colline says you need a 1200 denier
Mark Todd rugs are great, I love them

For a cheaper alternative I bought a "maxima" rug off ebay, MW combo, 1200 denier, about £40
